IMPHAL, AUG 29: A medical camp was organised by 11 Assam Rifles by 43 Assam Rifles under Head Quarter 59 Mountain Brigade of Red Shield Division on 28-29 Aug for the far flung villages of Khoupam valley. Identifying the difficulty faced by the villagers and lack of medical facilities in the valley, 11 Assam Rifles took the responsibility of conducting the medical camp. A total of 166 persons were examined and were provided free medicine. On this occasion the battalion also distributed various sports items to the students of various schools. People of Khoupam valley appreciated the philanthropic step taken by 11 Assam Rifles and requested for conducting more health camps in future.

IMPHAL, Sept 5: The combined troops of 28 Assam Rilfes of 9 Sector and a team of Imphal West district police commandos discovering the movements of UG cadres in general area Andro Khunou of Imphal launched an operation into the area and discovered warlike stores maintained by the supected milutants at the outskirt area of Andro Kunou this morning.

According to a release of PRO IGAR South, the combined security forces have been able to recover one 9 mm carbine  with magazine, one 9 mm Pistol with magazine,  three 9 mm ball, forur AK-47 rounds, foru 7.62 mm BDR, three M-16 rounds and one Kenwood Radio set from the very hide out the release added.

IMPHAL Sept 14: The series of attack carried out against ADC purportedly by NSCN (IM) has provoked serious concern to the general public, said a press release issued by the convener of JAC against Sangakpham Bazaar bomb blast.

Drawing the attention of the Central and state government, the release said that the current security measure taken up by the state government lacks efficiency. The demanded that the security measure should be handed over to the central Investigating Agency under the supervision of central government. Perpetrators responsible for killing innocent civilians should be declare as Terrorist by the authority concerned and exemplary punishments should be awarded.

The release further added that the ADC members and their families who are victims of the terrorists’ acts should be given adequate security arrangements to safeguard the innocent lives.

IMPHAL, Sept 22: The election to 10 district council constituencies, namely 3-Chinglai and 13-Shanshak of Ukhrul district and 4-Tungam Khullen, 7-Punanamai, 8-Song Song, 11-Maram, 12-Lairouching, 13-Chawainamei Khullen, 14-Tadubi and 17-Phaibung Khullen of Senapati district has been scheduled on October 24 from 8 am to 4 pm.
According to a notification of state election commission, the last date for making nominations is September 29 while scrutiny of nominations will be done on October 1. The withdrawal of candidatures is on October 3 and the election must be completed before November 5, 2011.

IMPHAL, April 12: Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) in a press release by the outfit`™s information and publicity officer Max Stone heralds the need for a unified populace and especially among the insurgents groups demanding liberation.

The release states that the public has been reeling under a colonial rule since 1949 and the occupational forces have carried out countless crimes in the name of counter insurgency The need of the hour is not for different outfits to push forward their personal agendas and community based revolutionary ethos, but to be united to forward the revolutionary movement.

Outfits operating in the valley should be aware that MNRF also demands the liberation of the state. The outfits are not unified and there are many hiccups which have to be overcome to bring an united front and to identify the true enemy, it states.

There is no one in the outfit by the name of finance secretary Til and the revenue officer oversees all financial matters. The outfit has learned that the person referred as Til is carrying out rampant extortion and trying to malign the image of the outfit. IMPHAL, April 16: A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 12 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized Medical Camp at Kamjong on 16 April 2011. More than 250 patients were diagnosed and provided medicines. An interactive session was also organized with the masses, where they were educated about HIV/AIDS, anti malaria, Japanese encephalitis and hygiene and sanitation. During the interaction of the Commandant with the locals, the villagers and civil administration whole heartedly praised the Assam Rifles for organizing such camp.

Te woman identified as Thingujam Sorojini Devi (39) w/o Th. Subhas Singh, Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai disclosed that she is working under the command of one Drangba @ Halloba of KCP Nando group since 2010. She further disclosed that she was involved in organizing the killing of one Ranbir Singh, Maibam Leikai on January 28 this year at the eastern side of Catholic School, Canchipur.

IMPHAL April 23: A summary report in Manipuri version of An NGO report in compliance with the Paris Principles by the National Human Rights Commission of India was released today by Kh. Chonjon, ex-member Manipur human right commission, Y. Laba, ex-member MHRC and Kh, Anandi devi, managing trustee, Just Peace at the Manipur Press club. The function was or ganized by Human Rights alert.
Speaking at the occasion Y Laba said that Manipur is one of the most human rights violated state. Incidentally, the full report was submitted to the UN sub-committee on accreditation of international coordinating committee of NHRIs on January 22.  The summary report has been translated in various Indian languages. Babloo Loitongbam said that the Manipuri version was translated in simple and day-to-day use language in order to be more understandable and acceptable. A formal release ceremony was held at Constitution club, New Delhi on April 18.

IMPHAL April 25: The Joint Social Upliftment committee in a press release today said that the ongoing road construction work done from NH39 to the interior of Khangabok is in disorder.
The release further said that they had dismantled several houses and gave several patta lands with an expectation of having a connecting motorable road for various villages to district hospital is shattered. The black topping is not more than an inch thick as compare to 4 inch at Leisangthem.
They demanded that the concerned road construction agency to look into the matter immediately or otherwise they will proceed for agitation, the release said.
A meeting has been called regarding to this matter  for Joint Social Upliftment Committee,Khangabok, Thoubal District, and its affiliating units, clubs and organizations on  April 27 at the office of JSCU, the press release further said.

IMPHAL, May 3: Nine MPS Grade-II officers have been upgraded to MPS Grade-I in the pay scale of Rs.15,600 to Rs.39,100 plus Grade pay of Rs.6,600 per month on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in its meeting held on April 25 last month and in exercise of the power conferred under Rule 29 of MPS Rules, 1965.

In this regard an official order has been issued by the Additional Secretary (DP) T Ranjit Singh and as per the order all nine MPS Grade-II officials identified as Leishumthing Ragui Dy SP, L Sanajaoba Singh, AC 3rd IRB, Md Hushne Jaman Shah Dy. SP (Vigilance), L Birbabu Singh SDPO, Porompat, W Orjit Singh Dy. SP CID (CB), L Nanglianthang Dy. SP CID (SB), SP Thaisii SDPO Mao, O Menjor Singh, SDPO Jiribam and K Janglung Kabui Dy. IMPHAL May 5: Lamsang Nupi Khunai Apunba Lup organized a pubic meet on plebiscite at Heibongpokpi Comunity hall today. The meet was attended by Mutum Manbi Leima , president of Nupi Khunai Apunba Lup , Sapam Pari khuman , social activist, Laisram Irabot social activist, Chirom Nabadweep retired superintendent of YAS and S. The resource persons opined that the conflict situation which have long prevailed in the state cannot be brought to an end through military might and violence alone.
