IMPHAL, Aug 4: The students and women folks of Singjamei Chingamakha today held sit-in-protest condemning the Sangakpham blast which killed four civilians including two school children at Chingamakha community hall today. Speaking to media persons, president of Chingamakha Apunba Lamjing Lup, Soraisham Sana stated that both the central and state governments should take up strict action against the NSCN (IM) which is behind the gruesome blast. The authorities concerned should brand them as ‘terrorists’ and ensure peace and tranquility in the state by taking stringent security measures, she asserted.

IMPHAL, August 8: The Kuki Students’ Organisation, Imphal has strongly condemned the murder of Lutkholal Misao on August 6, by unidentified gunmen inside Kuki Christian Church, Mission Campus at Dewlahlane Imphal.

A statement signed by it general secretary has stated that it is really unfortunate that such unwanted incident has taken place inside the Mission Campus where Imphal Christian Hospital and Hostel of Trulock Theological seminary are situated. It has further stated that in the aftermath of the incident, fear and psychological unrest have been spread to the quarter residence and especially to the theological hosteller which in turn has affected their concentration towards studies.

Therefore, the student body warned all concerned not to repeat such unwanted incident inside religious institution campus and instead to respect and regard such places, it added. Lastly the student’s body shares the pain and grief of the bereaved family members and prays that his soul rest in peace, it added.

IMPHAL, August 12: As part of its relentless endeavour to maintain a clean environment in and around the market area of Imphal, the Municipal Council, led by its chairperson and vice-chairperson, Raghumani and Thambaljao along with other elected councillors took a massive two days cleanliness drive from August 11 and August 12.

A statement issued by Ngaminlun Kipgen, informed that during the drive the elected members clean up the main Khwairambam Ima Bazar and the surrounding areas.

The statement further mentioned that the chairperson for planning & publicity committee, Praneswory, mentioned the “Zero Garbage” initiative taken up by the Imphal Municipal Council under the proactive intervention from MAHUD, have resulted in instilling awareness amongst the official staffs and the newly elected Councillors to pursue its objective. The Council is committed to keep the city clean but requires support of the local populace to meet its goal, it said, adding it appeal the people to extend their co-operation in the cleanliness campaign of the IMC.

IMPHAL, Aug 24: All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has appealed to the entire people of Manipur to refrain from any provocative activity that could cause unwanted tension in the wake of sensitive situation prevailing in the state.

The president of AMCO, Prim Vaiphei, in a release said “In the wake of the yet another show of picture of self destruction in the forth-front of total indefinite bandh imposed on all the National Highways in the name of Sadar hills districthood demand committee and counter bandh on the same issue and seeing the possible grave consequence which may severly affect all the communities of the state, the AMCO appeal to all the people of Manipur to refrain from any provocative speech or writings, dentention/kidnapping, for of spreading rumour etc”.

The AMCO further appealed to all organizations including civil and armed organizations to promote and maintain peace and peaceful co-existence in their best possible way in the spirit of love and fraternity.

IMPHAL Aug 29: The director, all staff and students of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) will launch a sit-in protest on August 30 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

A release of RIMS media advisor stated that the Out Patient Department (OPD) shall remain closed since all the doctors have decided to take part in the protest. However emergency services will be there in the casualty department. The decision was taken in a meeting of the faculties and other officials today afternoon.

This is in protest against the planting of a hand grenade in the OPD by some unknown persons on Saturday. The meeting also condemned the acts of intimidation in a hospital in this manner which could have endangered the lives of the innocent people. Several speakers said that as is done elsewhere in the world hospital should be left alone. Besides RIMS is a medical college catering medical education to students from the country in general and NE region in particular.

Further course of action will be taken during the sit-in protest tomorrow.

The incident infuriated not only the womenfolks but every citizen of Sadar Hills as they have no conflict with the Assam Rifles who claimed themselves as  “Friends of Hill People”.

The incident was normalised with the intervention of the Commandant 34th Assam Rifles along with other social and political leaders of Sadar Hills District.

This cowardly and discriminatory act of the two Assam Rifles Officers towards the womenfolks and the people of Sadar Hills District need to be condemned.

According to a release of IGAR (S) the students and teachers of Christ King School,Sajik, St Mary’s school,Khullen and Morning Star School,Haika participated in the programme. Students of Christ King School presented a colorful programme with cultural dances, skits and games for the teachers. IMPHAL, April 12: Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) in a press release by the outfit`™s information and publicity officer Max Stone heralds the need for a unified populace and especially among the insurgents groups demanding liberation.

The release states that the public has been reeling under a colonial rule since 1949 and the occupational forces have carried out countless crimes in the name of counter insurgency The need of the hour is not for different outfits to push forward their personal agendas and community based revolutionary ethos, but to be united to forward the revolutionary movement.

Outfits operating in the valley should be aware that MNRF also demands the liberation of the state. The outfits are not unified and there are many hiccups which have to be overcome to bring an united front and to identify the true enemy, it states.

There is no one in the outfit by the name of finance secretary Til and the revenue officer oversees all financial matters. The outfit has learned that the person referred as Til is carrying out rampant extortion and trying to malign the image of the outfit. IMPHAL, April 16: A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 12 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized Medical Camp at Kamjong on 16 April 2011. More than 250 patients were diagnosed and provided medicines. An interactive session was also organized with the masses, where they were educated about HIV/AIDS, anti malaria, Japanese encephalitis and hygiene and sanitation. During the interaction of the Commandant with the locals, the villagers and civil administration whole heartedly praised the Assam Rifles for organizing such camp.

IMPHAL, April 18: The District Magistrate Imphal, Imphal East District has sought official claimant of ownership of one M-20 pistol bearing No.200129 with one magazine having five live rounds of ammunitions and one .32 pistol bearing No.38171 with one magazine having five rounds of ammunitions which were recovered by the Porompat police on February 22 this year after arms and ammunitions were abandoned by unidentified persons at the crossing of JN Hospital Porompat.
In this connection an official order has been issued by the District Magistrate Imphal East on April 15 last that the claim of ownership of the said arms and ammunitions stating such facts, evidence proof etc. thereof which proves the rights of legal ownership can be made on or before June 12 this year before the Magistrate and no claim made over the right of ownership of the said arms shall be entertained after stipulated time and the same shall be confiscated under law the order added.
