IMPHAL April 22: The Centre for Youth and Cultural Activities (CYCA), Khurai Puthiba leikai is organsing a three days Folk Dance and Music festival from April 23 at the premises of Lainingthou Puthiba, Khurai Puthiba Leikai, said a press release.
The three days cultural programme is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

It further said that S. Bideshwor Sharma, Ranjit Adhikary and Ph. Iboton Singh will be the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively in the inaugural function. During the programme songs and dances of various tribes of the state as well as Khongjom Parba, Khudlang Esei and Pena etc will be showcased.

IMPHAL April 22: Th Ibopisak Singh, the current chief commissioner of Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides, has been appointed as the commissioner of National headquarters by Bharat Scouts and Guides headquarters, New Delhi, said a press release.
He will be in-charge of all the seven states of the Northestern region. Ibopishak is the first person from the region to be appointed as commissioner of the National Headquarters.

IMPHAL April 22: Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) in a press statement by the outfit’s publicity secretary T Leishemba appeals to the public to attend the Khongjom Day memorial ceremony .
It states that the Manipuris waged a fierce battle against the powerful British and the exemplary courage of our fore fathers should be respected and duplicated so as to throw off the colonial yoke. The state is suffering numerous atrocities carried out by the armed security personnel against the public in the name of counter insurgency, but the demand for independence is a democratic stance, which should be respected. The Khongojm war is a testament to the fact that Manipuris want liberty.
In order to achieve freedom, the need for unity is the need of the hour and should be stressed by all concerned, the release said.

IMPHAL, April 22: The stage is all set for the state Kongjom Day celebration tomorrow in remembrance of the first Anglo-Manipur war in which many a patriots like Paona Brajabashi and Chinglensana and their troops laid their lives for sake of Manipur.
Like every year a state function has been organized at the Kheba Ching in Thoubal district tomorrow, which will be attended in all likelihood by the Governor Gurbacharan Jagat and the Chief Minister O Ibobi as the chief guest and the president respectively.
According to an official source, the formal observation will start from 9 am tomorrow with the arrival of the chief guest and the president of the state function, which will be followed by the offering of floral wreaths at the Khongjom war memorial with a contingent of the Manipur Rifles maintaining the guard of honour general salute, Reverse Arms, sounding of last post two minutes silence, slope arms and order arms.
This will soon be followed by the laying of floral wreaths at the Paona Brajabashi statue and the main observation of the function the offering of tarpan (religious offering) at the Khongjom river.
Meanwhile, in view of the visit of the heads of state tomorrow, the state home department has made heavy deployment of state security forces along the route leading from Imphal to Khongjom and the peripheries of the Khongjom Kheba ching since this evening.
According to an official source maximum state security will be provided at Kheba Ching, Khongjom and its surrounding areas with the commanding officers of the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th IRB alongwith their respective JCOs and escort parties being deployed around the area.
The same source added that the additional security of the CO 8th IRB (commando battalion) with escorts, SP, Imphal West with escorts, One SI/ASI and one inspector of Imphal West another six SI/ASI, 19 Traffic Control Police personnel, 10 women constables from Imphal East District Police, 5 women Constables from Bishnupur Police and entire state forces under the command of SP Thoubal will be deployed along the VIP route tomorrow.
Besides, in order to activate an attentive security cover by the deputed security forces for the Khongjom Day celebration tomorrow, a full security rehearsal was conducted yesterday at the 1st MR parade ground, the source added.
The Khongjom Day will also be observed by the Khongjom Battle Memorial Celebration Committee, Manipur at Tengol Lampak Khongjom, and at Irawant Bhawan Imphal by the CPI State Council among various other places tomorrow.
