Imphal, Dec 11: The All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) today decided to launch a stir if the government fails to apprehend those responsible for assault of a scribe by Dec 14 next. On Dec 8 night L Keshonanda, Sub Editor of Poknapham was assaulted by some persons coming in a Hundyai Verna MN-04 A/4504 at Babupara.
As the police has failed to apprehend those responsible for the crime it was decided to boycott police activities from today. If those responsible are not nabbed by Dec 14 the AMWJU from the next day will boycott the government. If there is no action by Dec 17 then from December 18 next the AMWJU will boycott all political parties supporting the Ibobi government. The AMWJU today discussed the matter and one of the perpetrators by phone offered to come for talks at the Press Club, however he did not turn up.
Meanwhile, S. Surjeswar Singh, General Secy, of AMWJU has advised all scribes to be careful while going for reporting as there are threats from various quarters of late.
