A Maruti Van bearing No MN 01W 6585 moving from Imphal to Moreh and carrying electronic and electrical goods worth Rs. 1 lakh caught Fire due to short circuit in its electrical system near village Bongyang at 0930 am today.
A Quick Reaction Team of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) alongwith Fire Fighting equipments rushed to the spot and brought down the fire using the fire extinguishe. The driver of the vehicle along with the goods were safely rescued.
Prompt and timely action by the Assam Rifles personel saved precious life of the driver and the valuable stores. The fire was timely bought down which ensured further spread of fire which would have led to an explosion and cause further damage to the houses and villagers in the close vicinity.
