AIZAWL, Nov 11: The Mizo Students’ Union (MSU) has pledged to protect the land belonging to Mizoram.
The newly elected Mizo Students’ Union president, Zodinpuia said the successive governmewnts in Mizoram are not concerned enough in dealing with the Mizoram state boundary dispute. “The land which we owned are also being taken away by others which is really regretful. Therefore, MSU is going to take a huge step in order to protect our land”, said Zodinpuia.
The MSU chief said that concerning over the protection of the land, the students’ body had also convened a federal meeting in which it had resolved “that since they (the neighbouring states) even established a school in our own land, therefore, if need be, we shall even organise a social work of cleansing such entries.” He also said that the students’ body regards the Mizoram politicians as only working for their silfish interest in the guise of concerning with the state boundary.
In the educational field too, the MSU will take more steps and as resolved in the recent MSU general assembly, they will take necessary steps in order to divide the Education department into two directorates—Elementary and Secondary Education departments. “Since the same is already proposed by the Education Reforms Commission, and even the Expert Committee of Commission report also necessary, we will take all the necessary steps for its fulfillment,” the MSU president said.
Zodinpuia further said that for the implementation of the plan to conduct Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) for recruitment of teachers so as to enhance quality education, they will take further necessary steps in this regard. As per the agreement between the MSU and the representatives of government in the year 2011, the rules being prepared in connection with the appointment given to 17 different posts under SSA and RMSA are also almost completed. In order that the same rules may be used within this year, and also in order that the Mizoram may have the Mizoram education policy’ the MSU plans to do the needful, Zodinpuia said.
