The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Zonal Inspector, House Tax Department, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Sanwal Nagar, Delhi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from the Complainant.
The Complainant had alleged that he received a house tax notice from the House Tax Deptt. of MCD for his property. He visited the House Tax Department and met the Zonal Inspector who had calculated his property tax of around Rs.2.50 Lakh. The Zonal Inspector of House Tax Department, MCD had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the Complainant to settle the issue. Later, he agreed to accept Rs. 25,000/-.
After registering the case, CBI laid a trap and the accused was arrested while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from the Complainant.
The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Delhi and was remanded to two days Police Custody.
