IMPHAL, April 19: The Traditional Painting Exhibition on the occasion of the first death anniversary of late Poujairung Thaimei was held on Saturday at Keishamthong Kabui Khul.

Poujairung was a well known painter who used to draw on clothe.

Amu Kamei, president of the Zeliangrong Union, Assam-Manipur-Nagaland attended the function as chief guest, Mangpu Kom, president of the League of the Fourth World People, Kakomlunglu Kamei, president of the Kabui Mother Association and Thoipina Kamei, Elder of Thaimei family were the guests of honour respectively.

Amu further said that such painting has brought to remember the traditions of the past.

IMPHAL, April 19: Three suspected NSCN (IM) cadres with a small arm burned down two bulldozers engaged in a road construction work at Chadong Tangkhul and Laphang village today around 5.30 am under Litan Police Station Senapati district.

According to a reliable information, the arson happened today at around 5.30 am when the suspected NSCN (IM) cadres brandishing a small arm came to where the two bulldozers were parked set them on fire in between Chandong Tangkhul and Laphang Village.

The battery sets, seats and some plastic items of the bulldozer were damaged in the incident, the sources claimed.

Sources further mentioned that one of the bulldozers belong to the Saluman Village chief of Laphang Village while the owner of the other is from Imphal.

Sources also informed that Saluman had received monetary demand from the NSCN (IM) some few days back.

IMPHAL, April 19 (NNN): Rape accused Ngaopuni of Laii village, Senapati district was arrested by Heingang police and he was produced at the District and Session Judge Court, Manipur East today. The rapist is remanded to the police custody till April 26.

Ngaopuni raped a 13 years old Gorkha girl in Imphal on April 17.

Meanwhile, a sit-in protest was held today by all the communities of the area against the raping of 13 years old Gorkha girl.

IMPHAL, April 19: A road rage claimed the life of a young boy while another was left with a broken collar bone on Saturday, when the motorcycle they were riding

IMPHAL, April 19: A road rage claimed the life of a young boy while another was left with a broken collar bone on Saturday, when the motorcycle they were riding on was knocked down by a speeding bus at Singjamei Chingamathak in front of the UCO bank.

The accident occurred around 4pm today.

Thongbam Aboi Singh, 25, son of Th Kunjo of Pheijaleitong was pillion riding on a FZ Yamaha motorcycle bearing regd number MN01C-9480 while Ninghtoujam Raju, 27, s/o (L) Ingocha of Pheijaleithong was driving.

Ninthoujam Raju is an employee of the Imphal Free Press.

Thongbam Aboi Singh received head injuries and was rushed to RIMS, but was declared brought dead. Raju survived with a broken collar bone and is undergoing treatment at JNIMS.

Their motorcycle was knocked down from behind by an Imphal –Sugunu bus bearing registration number MN 01 1236 coming from Imphal side.

The dead body has been deposited to the RIMS Hospital morgue for the post mortem.

The Singjamei Police have taken up a case regarding the incident. The bus has also been nabbed.

IMPHAL, APRIL 18: The Manipur People’s Party said in a press release that defective EVMs were used that transfer all votes to the Congress even when other buttons are pressed.

IMPHAL, APRIL 18: The Manipur People’s Party said in a press release that defective EVMs were used that transfer all votes to the Congress even when other buttons are pressed.

Several such incidents were reported from Maharashtra, the release said.

Even though there have been several complaints against the use of EVMs during elections from several political parties, the Congress has denied to look into the complaints and continue to use the EVMs, it concluded.
