IMPHAL, Apr 25: The PRO, Police department, Manipur, Imphal has said in a press release that during a cordon and search operation held by a combined team of commando units of District Police, Imphal West and Imphal East, two active women cadres of URF were arrested.
During a search operation at Soibam Leikai Khanglabung Leirak, Imphal East two active women cadres of the URF were arrested. The arrested persons are identified as Wahengbam (o)
Sunita alias Geetabali, 46, wife of (L) W Premkumar of Soibam Leikai, Khanglabung Leirak and Oinam (o) Ranjita Devi alias Kavita, 29, wife of O Rohen Singh of Hundung, Ukhrul at present Mantripukhri.
Investigation revealed that they were involved in transportation and planting of IEDs at various locations in the run up to the Lok Sabha Elections with a view to disrupt peaceful polls, it said.
Two mobile handsets were seized from their possession, it said.
A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is going on, said the department.
