IMPHAL, May 24: Consultant for the New Land Use Policy in the state, Sudha Pillai (IAS retd) former member secretary, Planning Commission government of India has cancelled her visit to the State.

A highly reliable source said that her visit for Imphal was scheduled for May 28 to 29, 2014, however, the two day visit had to be cancelled due to certain unavoidable circumstances.

It may be recalled that on January 29, 2014 the state cabinet had discussed amendment of Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Sixth Amendment) Bill 2014 and decided to engage the former member secretary, Planning Commission Sudha Pillai who is also the wife of former Union Home secretary GK Pillai as a consultant for enacting a new land use policy of Manipur.

Source further said that in the month of February of this current year, she had scheduled to meet different State Government officials to sketch out an outline of the policy, which was to be completed within six months.

Summer Adventure Camp” to commence from June 16-22 and can collect and submit the duly filled forms according to the reschedule.

The association is also organising a ‘The Dzuko Trekking Program’ from June 5 to 10 to mark the World Environment Day, 2014, said a press release of the association.

The program is proposed to trek through the local route of Mao to Dzuko, it said. Interested person between the age group of 16-40 years may collect registration form from the MMTA Yaipha Sanglen, Minuthong and must be submitted on or before June 2.

Scholar Institute of Technology & Management, Guwahati and Mewar University, Rajasthan joined during the counselling session. All together 85 students and 27 parents Jiribam as well as Cachar, Assam attended the counselling.

IMPHAL, May 24: All the contesting candidates and their election agents of the 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency that under Section 78 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, are required to lodge a true copy of the account of Election expenses with the District Election officer within 30 days of the declaration of the result of the election, informed a DIPR statement.

A one day facilitation training for all the candidates and their election agents and personnel to be engaged for receiving the accounts will be held on June 9 at 11am in Kombirei Hall at the DCs office complex, Lamphelpat, it said.

CHANDEL, MAY, 24: A One Day district level community awareness cum consultation on the-would-be impacts due to the proposed construction of the Chakpi multipurpose project was held at the Chandel Christian village conference Hall today.

Organised by the Naga Women’s Union in collaboration with Naga Women’s Union Chandel, secretary of Chandel District Core Committee (CDCC) Ht Francis, secretary general of NPMHR Dr Gina Shangkham, convener of Gospel Friends Chandel, St Luckson and convener of NPMHR S Phamhring attended the consultation as the main speakers.

During the daylong program it was resolved and affirmed that the participants of the program would strife to defend and protect the integrity of their land for survival of coming generation.

The consultation also adopted several resolutions including to stop survey work undertaken by GSI and IFCD, call for an immediate revocation of the MoU signed, revocation of the contract etc and to pursue the government to take free, prior and informed consent of all affected people.

A paper on Chakpi Multipurpose Dam Facts was also circulated amongs the participants.
