IMPHAL, June 11: The indefinite bandh jointly imposed by the All Manipur Muslim Sutdent’s Organisation (AMMSO) and JAC against lethal assault of Nongyaimayum Rusdy, in Bishnupur district has been suspended temporary following an understanding reached between the groups and the police.

The groups are demanding the unconditional release and compensation of Nongyaimayum Rusdie, claiming to be innocent.

The bandh commenced from 6 am wherein bandh supporters block the Imphal-tiddim road at Kwakta area burning tyres and piling up rocks. No vehicle was allowed to passed through the Kwakta Khongsanbi area and severely affected the passenger service of Imphal-Churachandpur.

Meanwhile, a joint meeting was convened between the police and victim’s well wishers at the official residence Moirang MLA and parliamentary secretary YAS, Tourism M Prithivira.

The meeting which started at 7 pm was attended by victim’s father Hamid, representative of AMMSO, JAC member, SP Imphal east, additional SP Imphal East, OC Porompat.

An understanding was brought between both sides which include releasing the victim on bail by tomorrow, the police department to bear all the expenses in the treatment of Rusdie, to hand over the Alto car along with mobile phone seized from the victim.

Further a meeting with the deputy chief minister will be held tomorrow.
