Scholarships to provide education free of costs

Narengbam Ibotombi Memorial Trust will be launching a scholarship scheme in 2018 to provide education free of costs for girls and bright students who are orphans. The trust has been founded by the family of former principal of YK College Wangjing, late Narengbam Ibotombi from Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai.  

This was announced by managing director of the trust, Narengbam Rajiv at a press meet organised at their office today. He said the decision to bring out the scholarship scheme in 2018 was made by the trust, as his late father, Narengbam Ibotombi wanted to provide quality education at the backward village areas.

He further said the scheme will provide free education to selected groups of three students studying in class V to X. A total of 18 students will get the benefits of the scheme, including boarding facilities also. 

The costs for meals, lodging and academic fees for a year that would amount to Rs. 6, 00,500 for the 18 beneficiaries will be covered by the trust.

Out of the 18 seats, 6 will be kept reserved for girls. To make avail of the scholarship, the trust will conduct and open test for each class in the first year of its implementation. However, from next year onwards, the test will held for students of only class V.

The students who can clear the test organised by the trust will be made to take admission at IRE Senior School, Wangjing that was founded by late Narengbam Ibotombi.

The application forms of the scholarships are now available and the last date for submitting of forms will be January 5, he informed. 

The press meet was also attended by chairman of the trust, Narengbam Ongbi Chaobi. 

She urged that the aspiring students  should try to make avail of the scholarship scheme, which will be launched in the name of the late teacher who took a major role in trying to bring changes in the field of education at Thoubal district, and that all should help in making the goals successful.
