As observed in different government offices, departments and public sectors across the state, the Vigilance Awareness Week was observed today with the theme ‘My Vision-Corruption Free India’ at the conference hall of the DC, Kangpokpi.
The observance was commenced from today till November 4, focusing on the preventive measures to fight corruption, bring transparency and accountability in the functioning of the government and also to sensitise citizens on the ill effects of corruption.
Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner of Kangpokpi, T. Ranjit Singh stated that corruption is a deep rooted disease prevailing in the society and its eradication of corruption is much needed. He further stated that though it is difficult to eradicate corruption completely but to stand together against it is the need of the hour. Moreover, awareness of the ill effects of corruption should be effectively given to the people at grass-root level and the fight against it must start from home, he added.
The week-long observance was kicked off today with a pledge taking ceremony under the supervision of the DC, followed by reading out the message given by the honourable President of India against corruption. The programme was taken part by officials and staff of various government departments in the district.
