Introduction:
Manipur, once an Asiatic nation is located at the extreme northeastern corner of India. With an area of 22,327 square kilometers, Manipur of today is bounded in the north by Nagaland, in the east and south by Myanmar (Burma), in the south-west by Mizoram and in the west by Assam. A very charming hilly state, which had once separated Assam and Myanmar before the creation of present Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Mizoram out of Assam; Manipur had enjoyed the fortune and glory in the past and experienced sorrow and vicissitudes of her long history. It had been witnessed the transformation from a primitive tribal state to an independent kingdom and later on from native state of British India to a state of the Indian union.

It is indeed a great loss for the country particularly for the State of Manipur when Prof Gangmumei Kamei passes away. He was not only an outstanding teacher of history but also an excellent guide and guru to many people. I was not a student of Prof Gangmumei but certainly I was one of those who had the rare privilege to interact and argue with him on many crucial issues of the people on many occasions.

It may not be possible to get a quick job after having degree or qualification, so one need to take up challenges for few days. A Masters degree alone often does not set you apart to grab the attention of recruiters. One must make the CV and add additional qualifications and skills to gain attention from the recruiters. Jangled all the way with Jiangam

When we look back, the year 2016 had witnessed a handful of losses of iconic musicians, whether it was in the international arena or in the regional domain of Manipur. Commiserations poured in on the big names ranging from Leonard Cohen to George Michael internationally and Jiangam Kamei in a close quarter, locally. For Jiangam who is still remembered among us for his versatile musical talents, he was someone who would penetrate into a landscape of diverse genres and styles. He was a singer, a composer and a guitarist—all he did manage and balance well for any given genre, with rock on forefront.

The Naga question

Around 1947 when the British were leaving India and Angami Zapu Phizo was contemplating on questioning the concept of Indian nationhood and raise the banner of an independent Naga nation, he approached Major R Khathing, popularly known as Major Bob Khathing, and broached the subject. Khathing asked Phizo if he was contemplating a concept encompassing the entire Northeastern region. Phizo replied “No” and added that the primary concern was for the Nagas only. Khathing then told him that he was sorry that he could not go along with him on the Nagas-only policy.

‘Economics of Demonetization’  Vs  ‘Politics of Demonetization’

Hailed by some as the ‘’second surgical strike” (the first being “Uri”) Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s November 8th 2016 surprise and immediate implementation of ‘Demonetization Policy has caught every Indian off guard. This Demonetization announcement may perhaps be considered as the most important decision ever taken in the economic history of independent India. This is because it is targeted against two evil forces – hoarders and accumulators of black money and corruption-which have, for too long, had undermined and impeded the growth of not only political development but more importantly economic development. It can even be argued that no Indian Prime Minister in the post-independent era have ever undertaken the fight against black money and corruption with such passion, commitment and intensity as Narendra Modi.

Bandhs and blockades of Manipur

One of the main reasons why Manipur is lagging behind in developmental score is undoubtedly blockades. Well, we consumed a lot of days in bandhs and blockades. We have different ethnic composition having different interests; some of the interest is as different as North Pole and South Pole. It just doesn’t have any meeting point. All of its different views and interests are reflected in the form of bandhs and blockades.

The need to do away with corruption to build a prosperous welfare society

One thing that we often hear in Manipur is the complaint about the existence of high level of corruption. We do, however, also sometimes hear some kind of implicit denial of the existence of this complex and subtle monster or fairy. In fact, corruption does exist almost everywhere where men exist; but the difference seems to be in the degree and level of its practice. The corruption that we’re encountering in our land of jewels too has developed considerably and has attained a remarkable level of sophistication and complexity. We may wonder and ask whether this thing is involved in almost every activity or in only few areas and matters like job recruitment and development works like road, dam, building constructions etc. And again, we can also ask whether it is practised by only few individuals but shunned by the majority. We can also ask who are more guilty – those who insist to pay and get something done or those who accept and insist on being paid the desired price for special favour which nowadays allegedly amount to lakhs of rupees which may cross 10, 15, 20 lakh rupees? We can also ask whether everybody pays or takes the palm greasing backdoor/window entry money. Or are the illegal undercover corrupt activities indulged in by only a minority but denounced and decried by the majority of the population!

Amidst the juncture of the upcoming election and political propagandas among the political parties, we the subjects of Kangleileipak are not more less than the creatures crippled in a winter starve.Your political strategies for getting majority killing your voters. If you are not making the highways free from any disturbance earlier then a massacre is supposed to be hapened before election. If so, it will very right to suppose that only the politicians will remain alive in this tiny forrest.
Please! make us seek asylum by making more severe assurances. This is the last request and the voices of the resented peoples of Manipur to the central and state government.

The reason for celebration of Gaan-Ngai
Tingkao Ragwang created man to do some important works in this world. But he should not always continue to his works only. He needs rest after hard working. He should perform rites and rituals, cary out cultural and sports activities as thanks-giving to Tingkao Ragwang for rich harvest. People worship and pray to Him for well-being and prosperity in the days to come. Gaan-Ngai is the expression of rejoicing of the community with prayer to Tingkao Ragwang for plenty and welfare. TRC people want to take part the celebration of Gaan-Ngai festivals for one hundred times however it depends on the mercy of Tingkao Ragwang. Once man dies he never revives except rebirth. Flowers once bloomed will one day regain in course of time. Likewise, Gaan-Ngai festival once celebrated will recycle endlessly.
