I think it is about time we started proposing long-term solutions rather than this constant criticism of the symptoms of the deep-rooted malaise. It certainly is, by now, a well-established fact the MPSC suffers from shortcomings in many aspects, the many recent issues documented by this paper being testament to that. It, thus, now warrants us to find the right way forward, instead of dwelling on the diagnosed ailments.

Were Ukhrul ambush and Sadar Hills issue stage-managed by State, and for what? —Manipur Government needs to play its cards right—

Contd from previous issue
In the case of Sadar Hills, which is long overdue for inauguration, there are three probabilities as to why it may have been stage-managed. First, the government would present to the people of Sadar Hills as if it was really serious about Sadar Hills and that it would have inaugurated had it not been for the opposition from the Nagas.

For the aspiring candidates of 2017

There are certain important things that I would like to share with all the aspiring candidates, particularly the new aspirants of the 2017 State Assembly election. I am not in politics but I have quite a good number of politician-friends across party lines. Many of them do rightly think that they are wiser and smarter than me. Despite this fact I keep talking to them and giving my friendly advice to them, just like teaching the cats how to lick milk. Quite often they pretend that they are listening, but actually they don’t. When they are in trouble they tend to run from pillar to post, from lawyer to lawyer, from court to court and so on and so forth.

Hi… Mr Secretary, MPSC

Combined competitive civil services examination, as the name suggests, is one of the most important and prestigious recruitment exam every State Public Service Commission conducts. The fate of the state from the administrative and bureaucratic point of view clings on this exam. Those who get selected through the competitive civil services exams ultimately take the affairs of a State’s administrative machinery. Therefore, in this regard the responsibility of State Public Service Commission is enormous.

India-Myanmar relations: A fine balance – Analysis

Sandwiched between China and India, Myanmar has to pursue a delicate balancing act. In August 2016, Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi chose China as the destination for her first official trip to a major power. This followed a visit she had already made to Beijing in June 2015, then as opposition leader, which was widely interpreted as attempting to repair relations that had been faltering since the installation of a nominally civilian government in 2011. Both visits aimed at overcoming the past when China had supported the military junta responsible for detaining her for more than fifteen years (both in prison and under house arrest). To calibrate Aung San Suu Kyi’s overtures to China, President U Htin Kyaw was sent to India on his first overseas trip in August 2016, also to prepare the ground for the State Counsellor’s recent visit to India.

Manipur is like a mini-world with umpteen ethnic groups of different dialects castes, creeds and diverse religions. It, therefore, is a sensitive State where issues crop up every now and then from amongst the multifarious ethnic groups. Being a pluralistic state, it is also a pain in the neck of the state government to tackle new issues cropping up everyday. Other than running the administrative machinery, it is also one paramount task of the state government to look into the issues of different communities and indigenous groups of Manipur so that no flare-up of communalism and hatred amongst the assorted indigenous groups do not take place. The various civil societies operating in Manipur are duty bound to strive for peace among the different communities and diverse ethnic groups of the state.

Suspense in Manipur

Manipur has been under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act since the end of 1979. Irom Sharmila Chanu’s 16-year-old fast for its repeal failed to impress the powers that be. After giving up her lone crusade in August this year, on 18 October she formed a political party and is determined to replace three-time chief minister Ibobi Singh so as to be able to recommend that the Centre withdraw it.

Manipur, once an Asiatic state is situated at the extreme eastern corner of India. With an area of 22,327 sq kms, Manipur of today is bounded in the north by Nagaland, in the east and south, by Myanmar, in the south-west by Mizoram and in the west by Assam. A very charming hilly state, which had once separated Assam and Myanmar before the creation of present Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram out of Assam.

She was married to him, she was loved by him. Overcoming struggles together have fallen in their habituation. When financial rope strangled them, she forced herself to keep on breathing for her young ones and her husband. Luckily the man got a job, the wife and the tiny lives cried with joy. He gave them the hope of visualizing the new world. He starts coming home late, spending more time talking to someone in phone. His wife and children felt lonely due to his lack of attention; the temporary flavour melted him. He started having relationship with an unmarried woman in his office.

Power of submission

Submission is one of the most misunderstood words in English. It is often perceived as opposite of domination. Submission for most of the people simply means surrender to somebody’s authority, where one looses even one’s identity. Let me explain with an example. When we listen to a concert, if we are involved with ourselves more than listening, will we be able to enjoy the music?
