IMPHAL, May 13: Manipur stormed into the quarter final league round of the 65th national football championship for Santosh Trophy after defeating Kerala in a pre-quarter final match played today in Assam.

According to a release of the AMFA detailing today`™s match report, Manipur beat Kerala in the tie-break with 6-5 score as both the teams were locked in a goalless draw during normal time and extra time.

As the spot kick begins, L Tiken who took first spot kick failed to capitalise but four remaining spot kicks taken by L Thoiba, L Ratan, Th Santosh and K Naoba found the net and the score were levelled at 4-4.

In the sudden death both the teams were levelled at 5-5 and K Reagan who took the spot kick converted.

Y Hemanta scored in another sudden death spot kick while Manipur custodian Premkumar saved sudden death spot kick taken by Kerala player.

Manipur is grouped with Tamilnadu, West Bengal and Chattisgarh in the quarter final league round.

Manipur will play its first quarter final league round match against Tamilnadu on May 17 and again play West Bengal on May 19.

Manipur`™s last match of the quarter final league round will be against Chattisgarh on May 21.

IMPHAL, May 29: Tomba clinch men`™s singles title of the 2nd state open Squash championship which concluded today at the Officer`™s Club, Lamphelpat.

In the men`™s open singles final Tomba defeated Brojen by 5-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-6.

In the women`™s singles open, Naocha beat Rebeca by 11-0, 10-12, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8.

In the veteran singles final, T Pamei defeated Y Ibotombi by 12-10, 13-11, 9-11, 11-9 to clinch title.

In closing ceremony cum prize distribution function, Ram Muivah, IAS principal secretary transport and works attended as the chief guest while S Manglemjao Singh, IPS who is also president of the Manipur Squash Rackets Association presided as functional president and distributed prizes and trophies.

IMPHAL, June 10: The SDC Tiger Camp and PJPC will vie for the 1st NIVSO Cup title, a Khundrakpam Kendra level football tournament being held at Keibi High School ground.

In the second semi final played today, SDC defeated GSC Yumnam Khunou by 3-2 goals.

PJPC stormed into the final yesterday defeating YLYC.

In a keenly contested semi final match, SDC took early lead in the match with a 2nd minute goal from Rojen, who added another goal in the 24th minute to increase the goal margin.

However, GSC player fight back and managed to equalise the two deficit goals in the first half itselt.

While Rupachanda reduced the margin for GSC in the 30th minute, Tomba scored the equalising goal in the 40th minute.

Both the team were locked at 2-2 at the end of first half.

After a tight first half, the second session of the match resumed with SDC regaining momentum and getting control of the match which fetch the team its third goal and lead the match for the second time.

Premkanta scored the third goal for SDC in the 54th minute which eventually seperated the two teams and put the Tiger Camp team into the final.

The match for the third place will be played between GSC and YKYC on June 11 while the final between SDC and PJPC will be played on June 12.

IMPHAL, June 26: The 9th edition of the Governor’s Trophy Tennis championship begins today at Officer’s Club Tennis Complex, Lamphelpat. 

The championship organised by the Manipur Tennis Association is being held for several age group.

In the category for U-14 boys, Becker, Calvin, Devasis nd Leonardo have entered the semi final round. In the girls section for the same age group, Bunty defeated Monika by 4-1, 4-1 today.

In the U-12 boys Musha, Luching and Calvin won their respective quarter finals matches.

IMPHAL, July 7: Utlou High School, Bishnupur defeated Preparatory Sainik High School, Kangpokpi by 4-0 goals in today’s first match of the state level Subroto Mukherjee football tournament which is being underway at Khuman Lampak. 

Th Tiken strike twice in the match while Kh Donadoni and L Kapon scored one goal each for the Bishnupur school.

In the second match of the day, St. Peter High School, Chandel defeated Don Bosco, Tamenglong by 6-2 goals.

NL Moyiarngam and SK Vincent scored two goals each for the Chandel school. DB John and LV Renashing scored one goal each for the Chandel school to total its goal to six. For the Tamenglong school, Zinliang and Kei Thivpou scored one goal each for the Tamenglong school.

In another match of the day, Martin Grammar school, Kakching representing Thoubal district was held to a 1-1 draw by North Eastern English School which is representing Imphal East.

For the Thoubal school, Kh Suraj scored the lone goal while Telheiba scored for the Imphal East school.

After today’s match results, three schools have moved into the semi final. The schools are Henglep Govt. High School, CCPur, Martin Grammar School, Thoubal and St. Peter High School, Chandel.

Md Sahidur opened the goal account of SSU in 30th minute of the play while Kh Prasanta added another two goals in 61st and 79th minute.

Arunkumar of SSU and Pamei Ajangpu of YDO were booked yellow cards during the match.

Meanwhile, the venue of state league will be shifted to Mapal Kangjeibung from September 16.

Nirmala Devi have been selected for Indian Round Girls for the forthcoming North East Games to be held at Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh to be held from April 25 to April 30.

In a match played today at Khuman Lampak, TDCA defeated CRAU by 96 runs.
Batting first TDCA were all out for 192 runs in 37.1 overs. In reply CRAU could score only 96 runs when all of their wickets were out in 22.5 overs.
In another match played at Luwangpokpa ground, Luwangsangbam, YAC won by 1 wicket against UCC.
Batting first UCC scored 150 runs in 36 overs when all of their wickets were down.
