New rights group formed

IMPHAL, Jan 14: A women rights body called Struggling Women’s Association (SWA) was formed at a function held at Manipur Press Club today.
Advocate Naorem Bino-dini, Manipur University Economics Department’s Dr Chinglen Meisnam, social activist cum All India convenor of NEFIS Chinglen Khumukcham and social activist cum advisor of SWA H Ibotombi Khuman attended the event as the presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Keithellakapam Ongbi Thounaojam Margaret said that the main objective of SWA is to fight for justice for the women community of the State.
Social activist H Ibo-tombi Khuman explained that the women of the State have been facing numerous crimes and violation of rights.
He urged the newly formed women rights body to tackle such cases and offer every possible help in delivering justice to the women, apart from documenting such cases properly.
Mayengbam Romi Devi was selected as the president of SWA at the event.
