IMPHAL June 18: 16 Maratha Light Infantry of Loktak Brigade, under Red Shield Division organised a cultural exchange programme at Kwakta today.

The rich customs and traditions and the ethnic diversity of Manipur was showcased by the local troupes who performed Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Pangal events. The security forces from their side showcased their respective traditional events including Lazim (Martial dance of Maharashtra), Bhangra (traditional dance of Punjab), Khukri dance.

A total of 50 boys and girls of various age groups belonging to Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts participated in the said programme. The programme was being organised to ensure peace and  to foster unity among all ethnic groups and showcase the unity in diversity existing in the security forces.

The commanding officer welcomed all participants and public on the occasion and assured them that the Army will always make the extra effort to ensure peace and to bridge the ethnic divide in the area.
