Imphal, Dec 28: Troops of 27Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in general area Wabagai Kadajit of Thoubal district and apprehended two UGs cadres on 28 Dec 2011. The apprehendees were identified as No. 2583, SS Pte Yumnam Romesh Singh alias Nanao, 32 years, s/o Y Ibomcha, r/o Longmaidong Mamang Boroi Makhong (PLA) and No. 770 SS Sgt Akoijam chaoba Meitei alias Khamba alias Atomba, 31 years, s/o Late Yasikul Meitei, r/o Wabagai Kadajit (UNLF).
Similarly, discovering the movement of UG cadres in general area Potshangpbam of Ukhrul district, troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) alongwith a team of 6/8 GR launched joint operation in the area and apprehended one KYKL cadre on 28 Dec 2011. The apprehendee was identified as No.012, Batch No. 01, SS Pvt Mutum Thoibi Singh alias Maimu, 42 years, s/o M Babu Singh, r/o Potshangpbam, Bishnupur. The apprehendee was handed over to Bishnupur Police Station.
In yet another incident, troops of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector and 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched joint operation in general area Kakching and apprehended one UNLF cadre on 28 Dec 2011. The apprehendee was identified as Army No. 408, SS Cpl Elangbam sanjoi alias Malem Thomba, 35 years, s/o Elangbam Manglem, r/o Chairen Meikekhai, Sugnu, Thoubal. The apprehendee was handed over to Kakching Police station.
Later, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) apprehended one Bangladeshi National from general area Khudengthabi of Chandel district on 27 Dec 2011. The apprehendee was identified as Titu Ali, 42 years, s/o Sahadat Ali, r/o Dampar, Shimpura, Kisharganja (Bangladesh) and was handed over to Moreh Police station.
