Imphal, Feb 29: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, (RIMS) Imphal took yet another giant step on Wednesday with the inauguration of the DBT healthcare laboratory for molecular diagnosis in the department of Microbiology. Prof Ng. Brajachand, head of department of Microbiology said that many changes have taken place in the department since it became a separate Dept on April 2,1979. About 21 modern machineries have been installed in the Dept which are not still available in most of the medical colleges in Eastern India. The latest laboratory facility will benefit children living with HIV , Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis patients and many others.
Dr Pawan Sharma, senior consultant, New Delhi who was present in the function said this new facility will help RIMS serve the patients better. Dr Gourangi Maitra, representative of the Nodal cell, Tezpur was also present.
Prof S. Sekharjit, Director, RIMS, said that with the inauguration of the state of art facility it is shown that the institute is not lagging behind other medical colleges in this field. He said that the RIMS authority shall extend all cooperation to bring about a big change to RIMS. All new equipments and new technologies shall be made available in this institute, he said.
Senior faculty members, administrative staff, doctors and post graduate students were present in the inaugural function.
