IMPHAL, Nov 7 NNN: Chandel Naga Peoples’ Organisation (CNPO) has disagreed the State government’s policy to shift the site for construction of FCI godown to Thoubal district from Chandel district.
In a memorandum submitted to the minister of Education and Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution (CAF &PD), Government of Manipur on November 3 last, CNPO stated that the Government of Manipur had recommended for construction of FCI godown at Liwa Khulen under Patta and Dag No. 15/420 of Chandel SDO/SDC Revenue Office in the interest of the general public as per the Revenue Department report communicated to the Government of Manipur and FCI office by the Chandel district administration.
“Attempting to shift the site for construction of FCI godown from Chandel district to Thoubal district at the initiative of some politicians would reflect a wrong impression to the public “, the memorandum said while alleging that some politicians have initiated a new proposal of sites which are located at Heikakpokpi under Patta and Dag No. 1130/1359, 1310/1311 and 1322/1323 of Kakching SDO/SDC Revenue Office, Thoubal district contradicting to the public interest.
Decrying the move of the government, CNPO requested the authority concerned not to exercise the power and authority to hurt and antagonize the general public and urged to consider the recommendation of site for construction of FCI godown at Liwa Khullen, Chandel district as submitted by the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district earlier.
