IMPHAL, Nov 17: A new website of the Manipur Sangai Festival, 2012 has been launched on Saturday and the event will also be webcast live on the website.
M Prithiviraj, Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism and Youth Affairs & Sports launched the website: www.sangaifestival.gov.in at his office chamber in the New Secretariat ahead of Sangai Festival which has been scheduled to begin November 21 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound here.
Speaking at the website launching function, Prithiviraj said the newly website will enable people everywhere to watch the 10-day festival on live any time.
A total of 300 different stalls will take part at the carnival. Of these, 100 stalls alone will sell food items. Several cultural troupes from Manipur and other states are also participating it.
There will be separate timings for troupes from the hill districts for cultural performances during the event, the Parliamentary Secretary informed.
Sangai Festival is organized by Tourism Department, Government of Manipur every year as a calendar festival and a Delhi based firm has started putting the detailed of the fest on the social networking site Facebook to promote it, he further disclosed.
The state Tourism Department is spending around Rs 2 crore in organizing the carnival.
