IMPHAL, June 18: Islamic Development Organisation, Mayang Imphal Bengoon has today released a press statement asking the status of the WAKF Board which is run under the Minority and Other Backward Classes (MOBC) & Schedule Caste (SC), Government of Manipur.

This question is arising owing to non-availability of facilities for the minority community specifically Muslim community, it said and further added that an inquiry was made in this regard to the Director MOBC who informed that the WAKF Board Bank account had been closed in the month of June, 2012 thereby blocking salaries of the 150 teachers of 30 Madrassa for the last 13 months.

The bank account closure has brought several problems to the Muslim community such as during the withdrawal of Muslim widows’ pension, monthly students’ scholarship, Kabarsthan, Idigah and also Masajid, while seeking kind attention of the honorable Chief Minister of Manipur and Chairman of the WAKF Board, it concluded.
