IMPHAL, August 7 MNS NNN: A 47-year-old man was taken to the hospital after he
was seriously wounded in a gang beating over a minor incident here last night.
Sagolband Bijoygovinda resident RK Ranjit was severely thrashed by a gang in front of his residential gate during a scuffle around 10:30 pm Tuesday. Reports said the scuffle occurred after the gang who came in two vehicles splashed rain water on the victim while negotiating the flooded site.
The attackers also fired in the air as the locals gathered at the spot in rescue of the victim. They attacked the two vehicles with stones and then the gang fled the spot.
Almost one hour after the incident, the local residents could identify one of the assailants as one Kayellakpam Sorojini Devi aged 50, wife of late K Lalmani, and later attacked her house at Tera Amudon Akham Leikai close to the victim’s residence.
The enraged locals attacked the house to avenge the incident damaging it partially. Dozen of vehicles, including one i20 car, one Maruti 800 car and another seven scooters belonging to the attacker were also damaged in the attack.
They also destroyed two washing machines.The victim is undergoing treatment at Raj Polyclinic here.
