Sainik School Imphal has retained Championship Trophy by winning the Inter-Zonal Sainik School Football Championship 2013 held at Sainik School, Kunjpura, Haryana from 25 Aug to 27 Aug 2013. The school under-17 Football team had earlier qualified to participate in the tournament by emerging as champion in the East zone Sainik School Football Championship 2013 held at Sainik School Goalpara, Assam in June this year.
The school team defeated Sainik School teams from other four zones to lift the coveted trophy. Cadet Yaiphaba Laishram of this School was adjudged the best player and highest scorer with ten goals in the tournament. Now, the team will be representing all Sainik Schools in the prestigious International Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament to be held later this year.
