IMPHAL, April 24:  The most important role is taken by the teacher. A teacher should know how to share knowledge with students and the means to develop and monitor a student. This was stated by Kushal Singh, the Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR).

Speaking at a state level teachers training programme on child right in Classic Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal on Thursday, she said that such seminars have been conducted in 14 different places of the country under different topics.

Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga expressed regret at various cases of violation of child rights in different places of the country.

Continuing that teachers take an important role in the well-being of a child, he said that teachers should be aware of latest trends and be able to study the psychology of the students.

The chairman of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Right said that the state level teachers training programme on child right is first of its kind.

He continued that there is a need to acknowledge the rights of the child by the teachers given by the law for the betterment.

On this regard, the MCPCR acquire an approval from the NCPCR.

In the training session on her topic ‘An overview of Child Rights’, the NCPCR chairperson said that the child by reason of physical and mental immaturity needs special safeguards including appropriate legal protection.

“The state must take appropriate legislative, administrative, social and educational measures for the protection of a hild and his rights.US Convention on the Rights of a Child, the first legally enforceable document enumerating the specific rights of a child was signed by UN general assembly on November 1989 and ratified by India on December 11, 1992.”

Continuing that the most ratified Human Right Treaty has been ratified by 190 countries, she said that the constitutional provisions relating to child rights are article 15(5), article 21A, article 24, directive principal of state policy article 39(F), article 45, article 51 (k).

She also elaborated that the right of the child as spelt out in the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child (UNCRC) fall in four broad categories right to survival, right to development, right to protection, right of participation.

Kushal Singh highlighted the acts relating to children are child labour (prohibition and regulation) act 1986, Juvenile justice (care and protection of children) act 2000, Commission for Protection of Child Rights act 2005, Right of children to free and compulsory education act 2009, Protection of children form sexual offices act 2012.

Our CCPur Correspondent adds: The Manipur Alliance for  Child  Rights (MACR), Churachandpur Chapter, organised   a one day awareness program  styled ‘sensitization program  on integrated  child development  scheme  and other laws related to  juvenile right’  at the campus of the Health Integrated ministries campus at M.Ramthar,Lamka ,Churachandpur.

On the occasion, the Churachandpur’s Deputy Commissioner P.K Jha , Add.SP Balram Singh and ICDS PO Ms. Memcha Devi act as resource persons.

Speaking on gender issues and gender equality, PK Jha said that women empowerment as an idea or principle is akin to sun glasses and a spectacle through which prism reality will be dispersed, adding that due to gender equality we will get to see a double dose of development that will, apart from women, empower the family at large.

Having done thorough research on gender equality, he also dwelt at length about gender sensitisation in different circumstance which needs to be dealt in separate ways as per the need.

“Men are borne off women’s womb and what is the harm in having a woman CM in the state as it happens at the centre and many state governments in India.”

He also pointed out that national schemes like Rural Health Mission and SSA are women centric.

Speaking on the occasion, Addl. SP Balram Singh admitted that as a police officer, it was not easy to keep in touch with books and reading materials while emphasising the need to care for and protect the right of the child, lamenting that as a police officer he was perturbed by an incident at Takyal where arms and ammunitions were recovered from a juvenile home which is a negative trend.

Talking about provisions under the ICDS which had been carried out in the district, CDPO of ICDS of Tuibuang Ms Memcha Devi mentioned various schemes that had been taken up at Churachandpur which led the participants, particularly the Angawadi workers, to question that they are not aware of most schemes as they are yet to see the buildings and infrastructure being developed in many places as reported.

Interestingly, they and other participants of the program alleged that they are yet to see any buildings or development under ICDS particularly in 6 villages. Khomoi B, Monglenphai A, TollenB, Toillen A, Monglenphai  A and M. Ramthar Chich had no Angwanwadi centres to implement  the ICDS policies.

The participant also said that  it will be ‘wise’  if the authority  look into the  matter  and immediately fulfil the immediate need  of  the  district and bring justice to children in particular  and the general populace in general.

Convenor of MARC Churachandpur  Rev Nicky Thasnga  said  in his key note address that the Government of India  has  given all its citizens  a privilege  to develop spiritually, mentally and physically.

The government is keen to provide for the needy particularly the children at the age group of 0-3 and 0-6 years for which ICDS was envisaged all over India, he added.

By Deepa Kh

Summer or winter, nothing can beat the refreshing feel of a steaming hot cup of tea that goes perfect with a newspaper. For as long as we can remember, people have been drinking tea as it suits the taste of everyone.  Tea, for its versatility, is the second most widely consumed beverage after water. It can be consumed either hot or cold and has many health benefits associated with it.

I am not much of a tea aficionado or an experimenter, but I have often heard people saying that tea is a comforting and pleasant beverage. However, since the day a friend introduced CC Tea to me, I got so much used to it that I feel my morning is incomplete without it. And personally, I feel this tea is much healthier than the normal black tea or coffee as it is a beverage sans caffeine. The best part of getting addicted to this drink is that it does help in improving your health.

Researchers have opined that tea is a “wonder drink” as many remarkable healing properties have been found in it. Some are of the opinion that replacing water purposely with green tea may be even healthier. The high concentration of antioxidants present in green tea helps in fighting diseases and makes your immune system stronger.

CC Tea is not just a drink but a social enterprise that will contribute in building and promoting a healthier and better society.  It is commonly referred to as herbal tea because of its herbal infusion. Today, drinking herbal tea has become so popular that it is used as a culinary item and for medicinal purpose as well. This herbal drink is one such drink which is used for its flavour, benefit and other medicinal purposes. I have listed a few benefits of CC Tea below-

Benefits of CC Tea

– Relieves constipation

– Improves your digestion and has healing properties for stomach aches, gas, bowel spasms and diarrhoea

– The mild sedative helps in calming the nerves

– Helps in maintaining a healthy eyesight and beautiful skin

– Relieves menstrual problems and nausea

– Promotes perspiration and lower fever

– Helps in keeping your body cool during summer season

– The antioxidant contents help to get rid of toxins and excess body fats.

– Improves your liver function and lowers uric acid level.

– Helps in maintaining lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

– A popular ancient remedy for curing chest congestion, colds and coughs.

Those who are addicted to tea and coffee might have an absurd feeling about how the herbal tea would taste like. Some of you might even have very bad experiences and some might even complain about its taste. But trust me; you will never regret your decision to give up your caffeine intake for CC Tea. You would be smitten by the sweet aroma and its flavour.  Consumption of CC Tea will ultimately help you in overcoming your caffeine addiction. So why think twice when you can enjoy a hot cup of refreshing herbal tea and at the same time maintain a healthy lifestyle. So get set to “Brew a healthy habit with CC tea.” You have nothing to lose in giving a try!

The revolution in information technology has a great impact in our life. Its reach is almost everywhere. In fact, administrative functioning of a government, operatives of business and industries are increasingly depending on it. The technology has changed the dimension more particularly in business. E-banking is one area that has been growing rapidly by leaps and bounds. It is said that IT has reduced the cost of processing and exchange of information. The barrier of boundary and distance between places has been erased by this new technology. Financial transaction between, one corner to another corner of the earth is at our fingertips. Click a button, and our work is done. What is remarkable about this technology is, unlike others, it is not confined within the boundaries of the industrialised nations. Underdeveloped countries equally take advantage of the technology. Service deliveries are no longer centralised at banks. Easily accessible facilities like the ATMs and telephone banking have become an indispensible part of e-banking. However, new technology comes with a price. e-banking is now a soft target for cybercriminals. The Times of India reported in 2013, that the city of Gurgaon, which is canvased as one of the Millennium cities of India, had 759 cases of online crime recorded by the police. Of the total cases, 248 were related to bank fraud, making it the most common among cybercrime cases registered by the police. The police of Gurgaon had to inaugurate a new cybercrime cell in the city. The crime cell had maintained that the vulnerability of credit and debit cards and net banking has made it easy for criminals. Most of the cases are often difficult to investigate.
Identity theft is, which is known as Phising, is one of the common cybercrimes. According to IT experts, Phising is usually a social engineering crime pervasive in attacking organisations’ or individual customers’ information systems in order to gather private information. The perpetrators extract information so that the identity of the customers could be used for committing crimes, or a bank fraud, in the case of E-banking. Phising has become one of the fastest-growing threats in internet. IFP carried a news report of an attempted bank fraud, of a SBI customer from Imphal. A fraudster pretending to be an executive of the customer care service of SBI had tried to extract information of the customer over the phone. Smelling of foul play, the customer hold back from giving away the details to the caller, if not the customer could have lost all the money from her bank account. The caller was apparently equipped with computer software, as he was able to send deceptive messages over the mobile phone during the conversation. It has also been reported that some customers have already been duped by such callers. The customers realised of the fraud after finding their bank accounts to be nil. It is true that customers are given educational materials by the banks to their customers at the time of issuing ATM smart cards. Instructions are provided as safety tips for customers to keep their account safe. But very often, customers either neglect the instruction or tend to forget it. For instance, customers do not follow the basic instruction of respecting the privacy of another customer when they are standing at an ATM queue. There will be more than four or five people inside an ATM booth at a time. This is where the need for imparting awareness among the customers is seriously called for. The banks should give awareness on larger canvases which are easy to comprehend. State police should open cyber cells to mitigate cybercrimes. The criminals are already here, operating from someplace.
