Mayailambi tension subdued after duos’ release

IMPHAL, August 13: Tension along the Mayailambi returned to normalcy after the two individuals detained by police in connection with the death of a 30 year old man were release.

IMPHAL, August 13: Tension along the Mayailambi returned to normalcy after the two individuals detained by police in connection with the death of a 30 year old man were release.

Lousangbam Santosh Singh, 27, son of L Leishang Singh and Yumnam Sarat, 34, son of Yumnam Ningthemjao both from Chabung Company Mayai Leikai were detained by the Mayang Imphal police since yesterday in connection with the death of Md Habib, 30, son of Md Amuba of Irong Makha Leikai.

Habib was reportedly thrashed by a mob for allegedly stealing a LPG cylinder from the residence of Yumnam Sarat.

Enraged over their detention, residents of Chabung Company Mayai Leikai had blocked the Mayailambi resulting in disruption of normal traffic for several hours.

However, the police dispersed the protestors. Since then the situation along the route had remained tense.

Today Wabagai MLA, Fazur Rahim, Works minister Dr Kh Ratankumar met Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in this regards.

Soon after the meeting both the detained individuals were released.

At the same time, the dead body of Habib was also claimed by the family after post mortem was coducted.
