IMPHAL, October 19: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today called upon the people to co-operate with the government and its law enforcing agencies to improve the State`™s law and order situation.

Addressing the 123rd Manipur Police Raising Day Parade ceremony at the 1st Manipur Rifle Parade Ground today, the Chief Minister said once the law and order situation improves, people from outside the State will come to invest and help in improving the financial condition of the State.

He continued as the State`™s law enforcing agencies have been giving full priority to protect the lives and properties of the people, the State government is also giving priority to their welfare.

He further appealed to the men in uniform to carry out their duties with dedication, sincerity and integrity.

At the same time, the police cannot maintain law and order without the support of the general public, he said before adding that they should maintain a good relation with the public.

The State Chief Minister said that during a recent conference at Shillong, it was acknowledged that Manipur had the highest number of tourists in the entire region, which could mean that the law and order situation in the State has improved.

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also the State Home minister said people should not consider the policemen as outsiders, but should understand that they are there only for the safety of the public.

The Home minister also lauded the State force for a commendable job in controlling the recent Ukhrul issue.

During the raising day celebration, 31 personnel including ranking officers and non-ranking personnel received the DGP Commendation Certificates on behalf of their officers/ men of their respective districts/ units. Several other ranking officers and non-ranking personnel also received the DGP Commedation Certificate/ Disc.

The Chief Minister also inspected a 17 contingent strong march past parade which was led by commanding officer 8th IRB (Cdo) Ningshen Vashum as parade commander.
