Centre signs ceasefire agreement with NSCN (Reformation)

New Delhi, April 27 (Vision Communications): The Central govt has signed a ceasefire agreement with one year duration starting from the 28th of April with newly formed NSCN ( Reformation)

New Delhi, April 27 (Vision Communications): The Central govt has signed a ceasefire agreement with one year duration starting from the 28th of April with newly formed NSCN ( Reformation) group of Nagaland.

NSCN (Reformation) group led by Wanting Naga is a breakaway faction of NSCN ( Khaplang) group.

A seven member delegation of the group met a team of officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Defence on April 28 in New Delhi.

The Central govt team was led by the Home Ministry`™s special secretary ( Internal Security ) Ashok Pradhan and JS (NE) Shambhu Singh besides other top officials.

Talking to the Vision Communications Wangtin Naga expressed his happiness over the ceasefire agreement and hoped that `we believe in reconciliation process and work hard to achieve this. We don`™t believe in violence.`

Wangtin Naga also asked for setting up of designated camps for them by the govt.

The MHA is in the process of deciding the actual number of designated camps to be granted to the new group.

Joint secretary (NE) Shambhu Singh too expressed satisfaction.

On a query, Singh asserted `if the Khaplang faction tries to disturb the law and order, they will be dealt with sternly according to the law of the land.`

The afternoon of the same day April 28 witnessed an extension of ceasefire with NSCN ( Khole-Kitovi) faction. The extension is for one year starting from April 28. This faction of NSCN too expressed happiness with the meeting and said that their three demands to the MHA had been met .

The CFSB convenor of the NSCN ( Khole-Kitovi) Zack Zimomi said that they have four designated camps at present and have asked for one more camp.

Zack, however, maintained that his group prefer to `wait and watch` over the activities of the newly formed NSCN ( Reformation) faction as `we are not clear about their political aim and objectives. This is basically a Reformation group apparently to reform the Naga society. Let`™s wait for sometime.`
