KANGPOKPI, May 12: Indian Constitution guarantees various rights to the people of India apart from the right to vote during election, which no one has the right to perturb, asserted IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip and said that working against free and fair election is a sin and an outlaw activity.

He was speaking during a public meeting cum flag hoisting of Kaikhosei Lhouvum, INC candidate in respect of 11-Motbung District Council Constituency today at the residence of the candidate at Motbung village.

The Minister further said that there have been always different kinds of disturbance and various sections working against free and fair election in the state, which is against the Constitution and democracy while appealing the people to refrain from disturbing conduct of election in any forms rather hold onto the practice of free and fair election.

When the flow of democracy in the society is smooth and in accordance, peace will automatically exist which is the key factor for over all development. Synchronization and mutual aid among the public leaders is also a great factor for development, he noted.

Urging everyone to pursue democracy without violence, the Minister maintained that Satyagraha (Non-violence) is the ideology of the Indian National Congress and the Congress government is a non-violence government.

Flag hoisting of the INC candidate Kaikhosei Lhouvum was done by Ph Majarin, president of Block Congress Committee Saitu while Pastor Thangkholun Haokip, Motbung Baptist Church performed the blessing ceremony.

Besides around 600 people from various communities and 35 village chiefs within 11-Motbung DCC,

Ex-Minister SL Paokhosei, president of Sitlhou Council (India); SL Lamthang, Chairman of Motbung Village Authority; Ningthem, Advisor Sub-Committee Motbung Meetei Leikai; Dilip Bhurtel, Secretary Sub Committee and several church leaders were present at the occasion which was marked by a grand feast.
