The district authority of Imphal East district has banned the use and sale of fire crackers during the celebration of Diwali festival within the jurisdiction of the district with immediate effect.

According to an order issued by the deputy commissioner of the district, it said fire cracker should not be used in public places, crowded areas, streets etc., and not to create public nuisance to the general public.

Meantime our Moreh correspondent adds that under the supervision of SDPO of Moreh, Lawrence along with 2nd OC, Md. Akbar, a team of Moreh police seized various fire crackers from the town.

The action was taken up by the police department after having a consultative meeting with various civil body leaders of Moreh town and as per order given by deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal, Kh. Raghumani Singh to ban the sale and usage of all kinds of fire crackers within the district.
