IMPHAL Feb 17: Federation of College Teachers Association, Manipur (FECTAM) has submitted a strike notice to the Chief Secretary today mentioning that the teachers will undergo a mass casual leave from tomorrow.
 Demanding revised UGC pay scale, FECTAM in a press release by the convenor M Lokendro states that the UGC pay norm has been bereaucratically manipulated for the past years by the state authorities.

IMPHAl, Feb 17: The Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur, state branch with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross, New Delhi organized a six days State disaster Response Team (SDRT) Training Course today at their office at MG Avenue, Imphal.
According to a release 19 Red Cross volunteer Trainees from Imphal West, Thoubal and Churachandpur district branches participated in the training course.
In this training course included theory, case studies, group work and simulation exercises were covered. Facilitators from MIMS, Manipur University, Disaster and Relief Department, government of Manipur, civil Defence, Government of Manipur, 14th  Bn NCC Manipur and Dr. M Lala Singh, General Secretary, ICAR, Manipur,  Dr Y Meghachandra Singh, O Ratan Singh, Samarjit Khomdram, N Amulkumar Singh, A Devajit Singh from IRCS Manipur state branch have conducted the training the release added.

IMPHAL, April 2: The Dr. L. Ibotombi Devi, chairperson and S. Meghachandra Sharma member secretary Manipur state commission for women left Imphal to attend a seminar-cum-workshop on the subjet “Marriageable age for girls” scheduled to be held on April 4 at orchid Lake resort, Umiam.
The seminar is jointly organized by the National Commission for Women, New Delhi Government of India and Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
The seminar will discuss about the lacunae in the Hindu Marriage Act, 1995 which says that any marriage between a male less than 21 years of age and female less than 18 years of age is neither void nor voidable.
Dr. L. Ibotombi Devi, chairperson and S. Meghachandra Sharma, will also be attending a centenary celebration of International Womens’ Day observation by the National Commission for Women, New Delhi under the topic “Women in the world of tomorrow” on April 7.
The workshop will deliberate on the responsible age for women accordingly.

IMPHAL, April 2: A sit in protest was staged at Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak against the killing of Irom Rozer organized by the Nongpok Leingak Nupi Lup.
While speaking to media person president of the Lup, Sakhi Phanjoubam, demand the authority concerned to take up appropriate action against the culprit involve in killing Irom Rozer.
She said that only exceptional cases normally are handed over to the CBI but for Rozer’ case all the culprits involved are custody. Handing over the case to CBI shows the incompetency of the current government.
If justice cannot be delivered in the current case more similar cases will arise adding the Lup will not remain a silent spectator until justice is delivered, said Sakhi.
