IMPHAL, April 28: Troops of 16 MARATHA LI at Gothal under Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division during an operation in the village of Kangkha Louwai ward-II this morning noticed a group of one female and two males moving suspiciously alongwith some luggage. 
An official release said that on questioning and thereafter carrying out a search of their belongings, the lady was found in possession of approx 20 kg of Ganja and was acting as a courier.The release have further identified the lady as Ngashi Khongsai, D/o Seilhun Khongsai, 28 yrs, r/o Tollen, CC pur dist who was apprehended by the troops in presence of Meira Paibies and then handed over to Moirang PS for further interrogation.

IMPHAL May 2: As regards to a press release by the Kanleipak Rural Farmers`™ Association, a `Mental Health Awareness Programme`™ was conducted by the Manipur State Mental Health Authority(MSMH) J.N Hospital, Govt. of Manipur in collaboration with Kanleipak Rural Farmers`™ Asociation at Keibung Primary School, Thoubal District on the twenty ninth of April. IMPHAL, May 4: Troops of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles at North Khunau under Loktak Brigade of Red Sheild Division accompanied by Bishnupur Police Commandos apprehended a cadre of UNLF on the third of May from Bishnupur market, according to a press release by the Bureau of Defense Wing, Government of India.

It further added, the cadre was identified as Wangkhem Deven alias Chingnamba, 32years old, s/o Wangkhem Kulachandra Singh from Lamlai Karasom, Inphal East district, who was later handed over to Bishnupur Police Station.

IMPHAL, May 7: The second excursion tour to Sendra Loktak project comprising of 62 students and eight teachers from various schools of Tamei was flagged off by the Battalion Commander, 10 DOGRA on May 6. The students will also visit the INA Museum at Moirang and other sightseeing places around Imphal during the two day trip. The educational cum fun tour was organised by 10 DOGRA under the aegis of Red Shield Division. The excursion will provide an opportunity to students studying in different schools at Tamei to expose themselves to the outside world learning and acquiring knowledge while having fun, added the release.The educational tour is one amongst the many events being organised by the Army to assist the student community. Recently the battalion has supported the Student Union, Tamei in organising their 3rd Fresher’s Social Function on April 30, the release further added.

IMPHAL, May 17: In its drive to educate the youth and shape their future, a motivational lecture on `Indian Army: Nation`™s Pride`™ was organised by 10 DOGRA of Red Shield Division on 16 May 11 at Apou Kading High School, Tamei. Approximately 200 students of various schools attended the lecture.

The aim of the lecture was to acquaint the students about Indian Army, the career prospects and various ways to join the army as an army officer & also in other ranks. The organisation of Indian Army and its role in peace and war were also communicated. On the conclusion of the lecture a small movie on Indian army was also screened.

Children were seen highly impressed and motivated by this lecture as many of them made their mind to join Indian Army and were enthusiastic to become the part of this elite organisation.

The children`™s and department, of Tamei Schools expressed a heartfelt gratitude to 10 DOGRA for their efforts and selfless support to students`™ community, it added.

IMPHAL, March 23: A combined force comprising of Thoubal district police commandos and 28 Assam Rifles has arrested a cadre of the proscribed PLA/RPF while conducting a search operation at Lilong Arapti Singei Mayai Leikai.
A statement issued by the Superintendent of Police Thoubal district, stated that the individual was arrested in the wee hour today around 4:30 am.
He has been identified as one Chingsubam Ramananda Singh alias Pari, 31, s/o (L) Ch. Tombi Singh of Nilakuthi Awang Leikai, it stated.
It said on verification he disclosed that he is an active member of the outfit and joined through one Ningthoi in 1999. He got basic military training from Burma under the army number 1573.
A 9mm pistol along with four live ammunitions, Rs. 6,500 in cash and one mobile hand set with SIM number 89913301071132565677 were seized from the arrested person, it added.

IMPHAL, May 27: In continuation of its efforts to maintain peace & security in Churachandpur, the troops of Assam Rifles of 27 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegi s of the Red Shield Division recovered huge quantity of explosives in Saikot area of Churachandpur. Based on a confirmed input regarding move of explosives towards Saikot area, 46 Assam Rifles had established a vehicle check post in Saikot on the night of 26 May 2011. One Mahindra pick up was intercepted by the 46 AR from which a person carrying 195 Gellatin sticks, 900 detonators and 40 meters of cortex was apprehended at 11 PM. The individual was handed over to Police Station Imphal (West).

IMPHAL, June 12: The Medical Directorate government of Manipur has informed that all the candidates who appeared in the MBBS/BDS entrance examination, 2011 on Sunday will be awarded with four marks as grace mark following error committed on four questions.

The questions includes series A, question No.90, series B Question NO. 85, Series C question No. 80 and Series D question 100, it said.

The Entrance test for admission to the MBBS/BDS for the session 2011 was successfully conducted in all 11 centres located in the greater Imphal areas today under tight security arrangment.

IMPHAL June 16: Under the auspices of the State Tuberculosis office, a newly designated Microscopy centre at Catholic Medical Centre (CMC), Koirengei has been inaugurated by Dr Khamba, State TB officer today.

Khamba lauded the willingness of CMC authorities to network with the State TB department and assured all possible assistance for the smooth functioning of the new centre. He also appealed to the doctors and the staff to put effort in diagnosing and effectively treating the TB patients under the Revised National TB Control programme.

Fr. Francis Kalapurackal, director CMC spoke on the contribution of the CMC hospital in providing healthcare to the public especially the poor and downtrodden, he said that the hospital has collaborated with the government in various fields like HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

IMPHAL June 23: A team of 27 Assam Rifles and Thoubal police commandos apprehended one hardcore KYKL cadre from Wabagai Tera Pishak,Thoubal yesterday after a combing search of suspected houses based on specific intelligence reports. 

The arrested KYKL cadre was identified as Gurumayum Munda Sharma alias Basanta, a resident of Bamon Leikai Nahabam, Imphal East. The terrorist has been active in the area since the last few years and one 9mm pistol with three live rounds were seized from him.The cadre has been handed over to Kakching police station, an Assam Rifles release said.

IMPHAL June 26: A combined team of the Imphal west police commandos and 28th AR arrested one activist of the proscribed RPF/PLA yesterday from Kairang Maning Leikai.

According to a release of the SSP Imphal West, the arrested activist has been identified as one s/s sgt. Khundrakpam Inaotomba Singh alias Naobi 33, s/o Kh. Kesho of Kairang Maning Leikai army no. 2590 0f PLA.

It further mention that on verification the arrested cadre disclosed that he joined PLA in the year, 2002 through on e s/s captain Nelson and received basic military training at Sajik Tampak and he was working in Thoubal district as secretary division no.1 of PLA.

IMPHAL, July 1: In continuation of its efforts to maintain peace and security in Churachandpur, the troops of 39 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield division recovered huge quantity of explosives in Songdo area of the district.

Based on specific information during the checking of a Tata Sumo taxi moving from Mizoram to Churachandpur which was intercepted and 130 Gellatin sticks, 260 detonators and approximately 35 meters of safety fuze was recovered from a 25 years old lady. The person was handed over to Churachandpur police station for further investigation added the release.
