Jiribam police seize 36 lakh worth WY tablets

JIRIBAM, Jan 21 : A team of Jiribam police led by Special Task Force in-charge, A Krishnakumar (ASI) seized 12,000 WY tablets (60 packets) from a vehicle coming from Imphal, yesterday.
Speaking at a press meet held at Jiribam SP office today, SP, M Mubi Singh stated that the seized tablets would be worth around Rs 36 lakh in the local market and Rs 60 lakh in the international market.
He stated that the police team conducted frisking and checking at Leingangpokpi along NH 37 and during the operation, one Cruiser vehicle (regd no. AS 11BC 9503) fled the check post without stopping. The team chased down the vehicle and found the WY tablets inside the vehicle.
The SP said that Jiribam police have been conducting various drives to prevent any illegal activities from happening in the district and in connection with the Republic Day, stringent checking and frisking are being conducted at various locations.

JIRIBAM, Jan 7:DTO Imphal delivered opportunities to people of Jiribam to procure driving license and IND number plates at the district. DTO officials led by RK Ranbir Singh provided the first of its kind service to the people of Jiribam since December last year, ending the inconveniences faced by many for travelling 222 km to procure driving license and vehicle number plates.
Speaking to media persons, RK Ranbir Singh stressed on the need to set up a transport office at Jiribam which can issue driving license and vehicle number plates.

JIRIBAM, Dec 29 : Echel Club, Dibong saw off Kuki Sporting Club (KSC) with a 2-0 victory today to cruise into quarter final of the ongoing 27th KC Mallick Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2017-18 organised by All Jiribam Sports Association, AJSA at Jiribam Higher Secondary playground.
Both teams started the match cautiously trying to open up but without much result. The latter part of the first half saw Echel Club taking control of the game and it was Phillips who struck the opener in the 37th minute of the match and handed Echel Club a 1-0 lead. KSC also tried hard to restore parity but failed in front of well orchestrated defence line of the Dibong side. Geetchandra scored the last goal of the match in the 90th minute.
JYC Jairol Pokpi will face LFC Lungreijang in the first quarter final match tomorrow.

Jiribam: The Jiribam Municipal Council has declared that the entire Jiribam town, under the jurisdiction of Jiribam Municipal Council, as open defecation free, conveyed a press release issued by executive officer of Jiribam Municipal Council.
It stated that a notice inviting public objection to declaration of Jiribam town as open defecation free was published on December 13 and no objection or claim were received by the office till December 27.
In pursuance of the resolution of the Council meeting of Jiribam Municipal Council held on December 28, the Council declared the town open defecation free.

Jiribam: A one day legal awareness programme was organised by Jiribam Network of Positive People (JNP), Jiribam at sub-district hospital, Ningshingkhul, Jiribam on October 9.
A press release issued by JNP stated that H Rajenkumar Singh, teacher in-charge of Students Legal Literacy Club, Jiribam Higher Secondary School, RK Charles, sub-divisional police officer, Jiribam, M Rajen Singh, CMO, jiribam Dr E Oken attended the programme as resource persons among others and spoke on different topics including ‘Food Security Act’, ‘RTI’, ‘Consumer Act’.
Around 110 locals took part in the programme. The programme was sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority, High Court complex, Imphal, it added.
