IMPHAL, April 16: A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 12 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized Medical Camp at Kamjong on 16 April 2011. More than 250 patients were diagnosed and provided medicines. An interactive session was also organized with the masses, where they were educated about HIV/AIDS, anti malaria, Japanese encephalitis and hygiene and sanitation. During the interaction of the Commandant with the locals, the villagers and civil administration whole heartedly praised the Assam Rifles for organizing such camp.

IMPHAL April 17: The Pangal Students’ Union (PSU) has applauded the Manipuri Students Federation for taking up the initiative to control the sale of unauthorized text books in the state.A press release by PSU general secretary Md Mubarak stated that the consignment of unprescribed textbooks seized by MSF worth about one crore is timely and will help the student community. The union will support the initiative taken by MSF to bring up quality of education in the state. The sale of such text books is a burden to the minority community as the text books are not prescribed, PSU demands that the stores which sold the books should be held liable and the books should be made returnable. Parents who brought the books can hand it over to PSU office at Hatta Minuthong for replacement, it said.

IMPHAL, April 20: A one day seminar under the theme `future Generation of Manipur` was held at Manipur Press club, Imphal organized by parenting Forum Manipur.

The seminar was graced by P. Sarat, IAS, retd. Principal Secretary Government of Manipur, N. Chaoba, National Awardee and retd. ZEO, Ng. Naba National Awardee, retd. ZEO, as the Chief Guest, president and guest of honour. And IS. Khaidem attended as the moderator.

In the meantime, Soyam Lokendrajit HOD of Philosophy Manipur University spoke on the topic of bringing a change in the society and from fear, while Amar Yumnan also spoke on the topic `Our society and Education`, and Prof. K. Ibo Singh HOD political science MU on topic of `the contribution of intellectual to the future generation.

IMPHAL April 21: MAcha Leima observed its 42nd foundation day at its Palace compound head office today.According to a press release of the organization, the function was graced by Oinam Sarju, president of Macha Leima as the chief guest, while founder members, life members and other members attended the occasion and paid homage to departed founder president Chingakham Usharani by observing a two minute silence. IMPHAL April 22: The 141st birth anniversary of VI Lenin was celebrated today at Irawat bhavan organized by MSC/ CPI, Manipur.
The birth anniversary was celebrated in remembrance of his contributions and sacrifices that Lenin had contributed for the welfare of the society.
L. Thoiren, secretariat member MSC/CPI while giving his inaugural speech praised and remembered the works and contributions of this great reformer and visionary. During the occasion, other invitees and dignitaries also spoke on the theme Leninism and Socialism in 21st century.
The celebration was attended by many admirers, scholars and media persons from both print and electronic media. V.I. Lenin is one of the great thinker, political and social reformer and revolutionary of the late 20th century. He is mostly remembered for the Great October revolution of 1917 in Russia.

IMPHAL, April 27: The dead body  of an unidentified person was found at Lamsang Khudeiban under Lamsang police station in Imphal West this afternoon at around 1 pm.
Lamsang police has retrieved the dead body from the spot and deposited at RIMS morgue for identification.

IMPHAL, May 7: The troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(south) launched a search operation in the Lamlai area on the May 7 and recovered a Carbine Machine gun with magazine, 9mm pistol with magazine, five live rounds of 9mm, 26 live rounds of AK, one AK magazine, one round catch and six Electronic detonators, stated an official release.In yet another incident, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(south) along with lady police representatives launched operation in Khudengthabi area on May 6 and apprehended two individuals with banned wildlife products from a Maruti van with Regd. No MN-01W-1840, heading towards Moreh added the release.It has further identified the perpetrators as Kapaine, 29, d/o Sub (retd.) Sainee and Asha Empfuthmai, 35, d/o Fakhoto, both from Maipethu, Senapati. Fourteen deer horns and two mobile phones were recovered from them who were later handed over to Customs officials, it added.

IMPHAL, May 10: The United Peoples Forum, Tamenglong has demanded clarification from the concern authority of the state power department whether three 100KVA electric power transformers distributed by one Janghemlung for three villages namely Sangrungpang, Lower Songpram and Duiluan were actually bought by the person in question. The UPF, Tamenglong demands clarification in this regard from the Chief Engineer of the state power department, said a release.

IMPHAL, May 12: Gangte CD Music Album titled `Aw Ganggam`™ is scheduled to be released on May14 at Chiengkawnpang Community Hall, Churachndpur at 2.30p.m., in a press release the album producer.

The album is a collection of eleven songs, composed in Gangte dialect and is crooned by a budding artist, PCL Thuoma and is a debut album of the said artist, it further added.

The release function will be graced by Pu Genneikhip Vaiphei, Executive Member, ADC/Churachandpur as Chief Guest, Pu S Kamsuanlun, Executive Member, ADC/Churachandpur as President and Pu HGangte, MFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Churachandpur as Guest of Honour.

IMPHAL,May16: Brigade Laove Verma, SM, Commander of Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division distributed books to eighty school children at Khoupum on May16 according to a press release by the Bureau (Defence wing), Government of India.The aim of providing books was to create a library in the school where books covering subjects like general knowledge, environmental science, computers, literature and autobiographies could be assessable to the students it added.
