IMPHAL, April 16: A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 12 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized Medical Camp at Kamjong on 16 April 2011. More than 250 patients were diagnosed and provided medicines. An interactive session was also organized with the masses, where they were educated about HIV/AIDS, anti malaria, Japanese encephalitis and hygiene and sanitation. During the interaction of the Commandant with the locals, the villagers and civil administration whole heartedly praised the Assam Rifles for organizing such camp.

IMPHAL April 17: The Pangal Students’ Union (PSU) has applauded the Manipuri Students Federation for taking up the initiative to control the sale of unauthorized text books in the state.A press release by PSU general secretary Md Mubarak stated that the consignment of unprescribed textbooks seized by MSF worth about one crore is timely and will help the student community. The union will support the initiative taken by MSF to bring up quality of education in the state. The sale of such text books is a burden to the minority community as the text books are not prescribed, PSU demands that the stores which sold the books should be held liable and the books should be made returnable. Parents who brought the books can hand it over to PSU office at Hatta Minuthong for replacement, it said.

IMPHAL, April 19: Chingtam defeated ATVFA by a solitary goal in the 8th edition of the Challenge Cup Veteran Football tournament being held at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The all important goal for the Chingtam was scored by Nongyailemba in the 51st minute.
Earlier in the first ground match IVFA was held at 1-1 draw by SIRTI.
SIRTI went ahead in the 10th minute when W Phamward netted in a beautiful goal in the 10th minute which was later eqaulised by MS Wilson of IVFA in the 33rd minute.  
The referees in both matches awarded yellow cards due to unsporting behaviors of the players.
The tournament kicked off yesterday at Mapal Kangjeibung and in the opening match played between UNO, Yairipok and UBSA, Chajing it ended in a tame goalless draw.

The seminar was graced by P. Sarat, IAS, retd. Principal Secretary Government of Manipur, N. Chaoba, National Awardee and retd. ZEO, Ng. Naba National Awardee, retd. ZEO, as the Chief Guest, president and guest of honour. And IS. Khaidem attended as the moderator.

In the meantime, Soyam Lokendrajit HOD of Philosophy Manipur University spoke on the topic of bringing a change in the society and from fear, while Amar Yumnan also spoke on the topic `Our society and Education`, and Prof. K. IMPHAL, April 23: TRAU defeated Blue Hawk by 23 runs in today’s match of the 2nd MCA U-14 cricket tournament being held at two venues in Imphal.
In a match played today at Khuman Lampak, Blue Hawk won the toss and elected to field first.
TRAU scored 94 for the loss of all their wickets in 28 overs.
In reply Blue Hawk could score only 72 runs when all of their wickets were down in 22.5 overs.
In another match of the same tournament played at Luwangpokpa ground, Luwangsangbam, PCC (A) Mayaikoibi defeated PCA Patsoi by 68 runs.
Batting first PCC (A) scored 130 for the loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs.
In reply PCA Patsoi could score only 62 runs when all of their wickets were out in 24 overs.

IMPHAL, April 24: The GPRN/NSCN-K Zeliangrong region expelled one of its cadres for misconduct and bypassing order, and warned to give befitting punishment.
A statement issued by Retd. Capt. R. Adon, said that R.C.M. Tabipou Neumai alias T. Neumai S/o. Hukhambou of Renglong of Tamenglong District, has been expell/Terminated from the GPRN/NSCN-K Zeliangrong Region with immediate effect from April 23, 2011.
It said that the individual have collected Lakhs of rupees and even take over many work order of BRGF from Tamenglong and Tamei sub-Div., without the consent and knowledge of the Region Authorities.
The individual have been summoned at the region Head Quarter more than five times but pay no heed instead bypass and challenge the government. He has been tagged as wanted person by the outfit and would pay heavy price for his misconduct and misdeed according to the Azha of the govt. GPRN/NSCN-K.
Further it also informed the general public breach any relation or transaction. And those found giving him shelter will also face the same consequences, he is to face. Any finance mater will be dealt by the Region Finance Incharge and with the proper region Reciept only, it said.

IMPHAL, April 26: The 2nd Thongju Kendra Sports Meet-2011 concluded today with a glittering function.
The second edition of the constituency level sports meet begun on April 17 which concluded today.
The sports meet was held at several locations in Thongju assembly constituency but the closing function was held at the playground of SWC at Khongman Atom Leirak.
The closing function of the sports meet was attended among others by Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly I Hemochandra, Dy. Speaker Th Lokeshwar and deputy chairmen of the Manipur Planning Board, Bijoy Koijam, who is also local MLA.

IMPHAL, April 29: Manipur trounced Bihar by 9-0 in the preliminary league match for cluster I in the 19th Sr women national football championship being held at Bhilai, Chatisgarh.

With today`™s win Manipur has entered quarter final.

Manipur girls faced some stiff challenge till first quarter of the match as Bihar girls manage to hold till the 25th minute.

However, L Ashalata found the vital break in the next minute to open goal account for Manipur.

After Ashalata`™s goal, Manipur scored at regular interval to net in a total of nine goals.

In the quarter final Manipur will meet either Jharkhand or Goa.

IMPHAL, May 6: The 6th edition of the Manipur State League football will be competed by only 10 clubs as no Clubs has applied for filling up two Clubs relegated based on the league table of the 5th Manipur state league.
Executive council of the AMFA has decided to fix the number of Clubs for the 6th MSL to 10 only with no fresh selectio.
The AMFA executive council meet held today also decided that the principle of relegation o two teams and selection/promotion of two teams to replace the relegated two clubs will maintain and continue.

IMPHAL, May 7: The troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(south) launched a search operation in the Lamlai area on the May 7 and recovered a Carbine Machine gun with magazine, 9mm pistol with magazine, five live rounds of 9mm, 26 live rounds of AK, one AK magazine, one round catch and six Electronic detonators, stated an official release.In yet another incident, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(south) along with lady police representatives launched operation in Khudengthabi area on May 6 and apprehended two individuals with banned wildlife products from a Maruti van with Regd. No MN-01W-1840, heading towards Moreh added the release.It has further identified the perpetrators as Kapaine, 29, d/o Sub (retd.) Sainee and Asha Empfuthmai, 35, d/o Fakhoto, both from Maipethu, Senapati. Fourteen deer horns and two mobile phones were recovered from them who were later handed over to Customs officials, it added.
