State karatekas to represent India in international c’ship

Imphal, Aug 7: The Kyo-kushinkai Karate Association Manipuri is sending five karatekas from Manipur to represent India in the International Open Karate Championship that will be held at Bandhist Krida Sankul, KDMC Ground, Thane in Mumbai on August 16 and 17, according to a statement from the association.
The selected list includes:
• Khwairakpam Lakhan: below 35kg, 12 to 13 years
• Thangminlen Khongsai: below 50kg, 16 to 17 years
• Khoirom Tendenba: below 55kg, 16 to 17 years
• Ningthoujam Sanjoy Me-etei: below 55kg, 18+years
• Waikhom Santa: below 50kg, 18+years
All of them are individual kumite; and while the first four are play at the national level, W Santa is an international player, mentioned the statement.

Imphal, Aug 5: The SYDSWA Club Kumbi orga-nised a reception programme to felicitate two local karatekas, Khaidem Kishan and Nong-maithem Niti Dixon, who had brought laurel by winning medals at the 3rd International Karate Championship which was held last month in Kolkata.
Representing India, Ki-shan and Niti Dixon had won a gold and a silver medal each at the championship.

Imphal, May 24 : State karatekas M Soniya Devi and Kh Kishan Singh won a medal each in the National Karate Championship which was held from May 20 to 22 at New Delhi.
