A Poem: Kitty

Kitty Whenever Kitty sees our neighbor’s dog coming close to her she lifts her back high and hisses. The dog gets scared and turns away in fear. One day Kitty caught a rat but let it go. They played and ran till the rat escaped. Kitty could not find it. (Courtesy Tele Kids)

Spring

A poem by Bijayata  Akham

They say,
Once the gale blew ,
The fragrance of the flowers
Pervading ,
When the king arrived .

Blandly He was
visiting homes and hovels
to give new hopes
to the young and hoary old .

Today, the weather is hot
The wind doesn’t blow
When He comes
That   I  don’t  feel  His  coming .

And  sometimes at  sunset
I  seeing  the rows
of  herons  flying
From the Nongmaijing hill
Towards the western horizon
Pondered , how long
They will continue coming  there .

(Under the Twinkling Stars)

Dark is the night,
Save for the one day –
– less, Full moon

And the Twinkling Stars,
Talking amongst themselves,
Like the bunch of ‘chongas’,
In the ‘wapals’.

A few, from whose
rooms, refracted lights come;

The second ‘katas’ of the,
– wall clock, keeps me,
Company, Little noises
here and there, an almost,
a warning, Or sounds
of cowardice. Sound of
a speeding vehicle has just
– passed, If ye be
– a brave man, not a coward;

Come out to the Judge, in the high,
“To err is humane, but,
To forgive is devine.”!!

– Takhellambam Priyokumar
