IMPHAL, June 10: The proscribed Revolutionary People`™s Front (RPF), refuting the claim made by `Indian Occupational Forces`™ (IOF) on inflicting serious damage to militant camps inside Myanmar territory besides human casualties, was a cheap propaganda.

A statement issued by Roben Khuman, secretary publicity RPF, conceded that on June 9 morning around 7 am, IOF attacked an OP mobile camp of the outfit`™s armed wing People`™s Liberation Army (PLA) in the interior part Ukhrul bordering Myanmar.

Some of the IOF crossed over the border while some from the border initially attacked a sentry post. However, the IOF were forced to retreat following stiff resistance from the side of the PLA, it said.

It further claimed that the outfit found blood stains besides recovering magazine containing full lives round when combed the area in the aftermath of the gun fight.

Stating that the attack occurred only at the PLA mobile camp, it said that the reports of inflicting serious human casualties to the militant as claimed by top brass of IOF during the cross-border strike was a cheap propaganda, it said adding that `The IOF has failed to tell the truth and misled the Indian people`.

It further appealed the people of Manipur not to believe in such lies.

On 24 April 2015, nine militant groups of the northeast, including the NSCN (Khaplang) and the ULFA faction led by Paresh Baruah, have come together to form a new unified front during a meeting held recently in Myanmar, security sources said.

According to Hindustan Times report, the move to form the “United National Liberation Front of West South East Asia” comes close on the heels of S.S. Khaplang, chairman of the NSCN (K), abrogating a 14-year-old ceasefire agreement with the Centre last month. Khaplang, a Hemi Naga from Myanmar, played a key role in organising the meeting of militant groups where the decision to form the new grouping was made, security sources told Hindustan Times. Though Khaplang will be the nominal head of the new grouping, a key role will be played by Paresh Baruah, the chief of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent who has consistently opposed peace talks with the Central government, the sources said.

Nagaland Post states that both Khaplang and Baruah are currently based in Myanmar. Baruah moved to Myanmar after authorities in Bangladesh launched a crackdown on his group, the sources said.

Besides the NSCN (K) and ULFA-Independent, other groups that participated in the meeting held at Taga in Sagaing division of Myanmar earlier this month were the Kangleipak Communist Party, Kanglei Yawol Kunna Lup, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, People’s Liberation Army, United National Liberation Front and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit faction).

The new grouping is dominated by militant organisations from Manipur, which refer to the northeastern region as “West South East Asia”.

Nagaland Post states that security sources said Chinese intelligence played an active role in encouraging the northeastern groups to come together on a common platform. Chinese intelligence operatives are active in the Sagaing region and weapons are often shipped to the northeastern groups through the China-Myanmar border.

“The Chinese have promised to provide weapons and logistics to the new grouping as they want to keep things boiling in the northeast in view of their claim on the state of Arunachal Pradesh,” a source said.

Earlier, the Chinese intelligence had played a role in bringing together several militant groups from the Manipur Valley in an umbrella organisation called CorCom. Most of these groups have now joined the new grouping.

Several groups from the North Eastern states have training camps in Sagaing division. After the NSCN-Khaplang signed a truce with Myanmarese authorities in 2012, it has consolidated its position in the neighbouring country.

The NSCN (K) split in late March after Khaplang abrogated the ceasefire signed with the Central government in 2001 and wound up the cease-fire supervisory board. The group had at the time accused the Central government of not being serious about discussing the issue of “sovereignty” for Nagas. Khaplang also expelled two of its kilonsers- Wangtin Naga and P. Tikhak from the group, who were in favour of extending the ceasefire pact with the Government of India. Following the expulsion, Wangtin and Tikhak formed a new group under the name NSCN (Reformation) Nagaland Post states.

Civic action programmes of the Indian army means to suppress movement: RPF

IMPHAL, Sept 3: The proscribed outfit, the Revolutionary People’s Front has said India is resorting to all forms of strategies including terror and violence to defeat the genuine movement to regain freedom of Manipur.

A statement issued by its secretary publicity Roben Khuman has said that the use of military terrorism which has been denounced and condemned by all is to rule the land and its people by force.

Physical assault, forced disappearance, rapes etc are different violent acts of the Indian army to suppress the people of Manipur, the statement said.

The statement further claimed that not only such atrocities but India has also been playing the divide and rule and certain devilish political games to create a wedge amongst the different communities that have been residing peacefully together for the past many years.

The RPF statement further said that Paulo Freire in his “The Pedagogy of the Oppressed” published in 1968 had stated about the divide and rule strategy played by the oppressor as “… as the oppressor minority subordinates and dominates the majority, it must divide it and keep it divided in order to remain in power. The minority cannot permit itself the luxury of tolerating the unification of the people, which would undoubtedly signify a serious threat to their own hegemony. Accordingly, the oppressors halt by any fashion could awaken the oppressed to the need for unity. …”

The statement continued that India has been practising ideological weapons in fields of religion, health care, philanthropy, suspension of military operations, treaties, commercial exchange or the civic action programmes in order to control the masses and portray the act of colonisation to be for the welfare of the people.

The main objective of the Indian regime is to completely control the Western South East Asia region by means of military, paramilitary, political, economic, psychological, civic action and divide and rule strategies, it said and added that a sense of mistrust has been created among the communities of the region.

The statement further stated that Nandini Sunder in her “Interning insurgent population: The buried history of Indian democracy” has clearly shown how State and Indian forces had acted to create a barrier between the revolutionaries and the public in Nagaland and Mizoram.

It continued that since the 1950, the Indian and State forces had carried out large scale regrouping of villages by displacing one village from a certain place to another in Nagaland and Mizoram

The main objective of such actions was to separate the public from the revolutionaries, it said.

However, when their various strategies and tactics failed to defeat the revolutionary movement, India has made some changes and is continuing with the civic action programmes, the statement claimed.

Under the civic action programmes, the Indian army has now started planting saplings with the promise of making Manipur green again, distributing TVs computers to local clubs and conducting medical camps etc., it said.

It further said that such acts are nothing but to lead the public against the revolutionary movement.

Jadonang’s struggle has its relevancy to this day: CorCom

IMPHAL, August 27: The sacrifice made by the brave Haipou Jadonang for ushering a better future for his community, and his struggle against the colonial regime has become more relevant

IMPHAL, August 27: The sacrifice made by the brave Haipou Jadonang for ushering a better future for his community, and his struggle against the colonial regime has become more relevant today, said a statement of the Coordination Committee, a conglomerate of six proscribed organisations of Manipur, namely: KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF & UNLF.

The statement signed by its media coordinator, H Poirei has paid revolutionary salute to Jadonang on his 83rd death anniversary which is on August 29. Praising Jadonang for his pioneering leadership role he played for Kabui community in particular and Manipur in general, while fighting against the British, it said Jadonang’s struggle was towards achieving sovereignty of the land.

Recalling that Jadonang was born to Thiudai and Tabonliu in Kambiron village of Tamenglong, in the year 1905, when British colonial rule prevailed over Manipur following the 1891 battle, it said Jadonang grew up to be an upright patriot.

The statement continued that Jadonang stood against oppressive decrees of the then colonial British and the King, who forced upon hill people to do hard manual jobs like carrying their loads; collecting undue taxes from households etc.

It continued that Jadonang firm stand gave a clarion call against the human right violations meted out to the people, and thereby gave an impetus to anti-colonial struggle. Jadonang unmasked the sinister designs of colonialism by following the indigenous culture and religion, Jadonang had a firm belief that he could save his countrymen from the colonial yoke, said the statement.

Further, the statement said Jadonang’s action of mobilising his countrymen against the British became a big headache for the coloniser. Accordingly, the British hatched a plan to capture Jadonang by giving false charges to him. Jadonang was captured on February 19, 1928 from Binakandi, Cachar.

Adding that Jadonang was tried by the then political agent JC Higgins, who acted as both judge and prosecutor, charged him with IPC Section 302/109 and 320/149, without giving any opportunity to defend himself; the statement maintained that Jadonang was hanged to death on August 29, 1931 near the bank of Nambool River in a hasty manner.

Had Jadonang been alive for a longer time, without getting caught by the British, the history of anti-colonial struggle would have taken a different course, it said.

The statement continued that there is an urgent need to follow the footsteps of Jadonang by today’s generation, whose ideals were based on indigenous and cultural moorings. It said the colonial legacy of the British is still being practiced by India; therefore it is important to fight against the colonial oppression with the same ideals of Jadonang.

Further continuing that the Indian colonial regime has been trying to erase the rich indigenous imprints of this land from the surface of the earth, it said there is no other way, except furthering the anti-colonial struggle with a united force of the people. This will be a true tribute to Jadonang, the statement added.
