Imphal, Nov 12 : Diwali will be celebrated tomorrow. Governor Gurbhachan Jagat said, “It gives me great pleasure to greet the people of Manipur on the propitious occasion of “Diwali, 2012” – the festival of lights that is celebrated across the country with enthusiasm and joyfulness marking the victory of good over evil. Diwali commemorates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after his victory over Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of virtue over vice.
Diwali is traditionally celebrated by illuminating their homes to dispel darkness and invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakhsmi for peace and prosperity. May the lights of Diwali dispel not only darkness, but also mistrust, strife and discord among the people of the- State and promote good-will and bonhomie.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi said , I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Diwali which falls on 13th November, 2012.Diwali, the festival of lights commemorates Lord Rama’s return to his kingdom Ayodhya after completing his 14 years exile. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil. People celebrate the festival by illuminating their homes to dispel darkness to evoke the blessing of Goddess Lakshmi. Let usimbibe the ideals associated with this festival to foster the spirit of amity,harmony and goodwill in our lives.
