Imphal Mar 1 UNA : A man from Tripura has been detained by police in Manipur for his alleged attempt to send 19 boys from the same state to join to BSF with fake call letters. Tapas Baskar (49) son of Niranjan Sankar of Bishad Garh Sonia of Tripura’s Bishal Garh district who came with the 19 boys was detained by the authority of the STC BSF at Churachandpur on February 27 last after it was revealed that he tried to induct the 19 boys using fake call letters.
He was later handed over to Churachandpur police where a complaint was also lodged against him by a deputy commandant of the BSF on the same say. During paramilitary examination to the 19 boys, BSF authority reportedly revealed that the accused Tapas Baskar led them to the STC BSF campus with promise to recruit them in the BSF. He allegedly took money from Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000. The call letters were found to be fake, the source maintained.
