IMPHAL, April 2: The Information and Publicity Secretary of the Zeliarong United Front (ZUF), A Dangmei clarified to IFP regarding a news report published yesterday that there is no encounter took place between suspected ZUF cadres and a combined team of 6/8 GR and 10 sector Assam rifle under Tamenglong district as reported.
The Information and Publicity Secretary of ZUF said that no such incident took place in the Khoupum and Kenjang area yesterday and that there were no casualties sustained since all the cadre of the party were present in their camp.
Meanwhile, Red Shield Division rebuts the article published in the Imphal Free Press edition dated 02 Apr 13, where it has been reported that an encounter took place between ZUF and troops of 6/8 GR and 10 AR combine on 01 Apr 13 at a place between Khoupum and Kenjang area in Distt Tamenglong where in one UG was killed. It is clarified that Red Shield Division troops did not carry out any move or operation in the said area and the report on encounter with ZUF is false. The contents of the article are factually incorrect.
