IMPHAL, April 9: Manipur Science and Technilogy Council, Imphal will be organising a 5-day state level science festival under the theme Genetically Modified Crops and Food Security” under the banner of science Meet 2013 from May 11 to May 15 at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal. The programme will feature science model exhibition-cum-competition, spot painting competition, declamation contest, quiz competition, best guide teacher award, best appreciation award, science film show, science behind miracle show, puppet show, book exhibition, IT show, lecture-cum-demonstration etc.

IMPHAL, April 9: Troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) apprehended one PREPAK (Pro) cadre on April 8, said a PRO release.

According to the release the apprehended person has been identified as Shinkha Mayum Sajit alias Ningshiba, 24, son of S Khamba, a resident of Pukhao Nehru Awang Leikai under Lamlai police station in Imphal East.

One 9 mm pistol alongwith three live rounds were recovered from his possession, who along with the recovered items was handed over to Imphal West police station, it added.

IMPHAL, April 9: The Pallel Police commando team has arrested two women along with drugs while coming from Moreh side during a daily routine police checking in area of  the CDO personal post at Pallel area under Thoubal police station in Thoubal district today at around 11.30 am. The two women were later produced before the media  along with the seized drug items at Pallel commando unit post.

According to the police, the two women were arrested with 300 grams of heroin powder and 52 number of WAI capsules  in their possession. They were coming in a Maruti Van bearing registration MN02A / 2332. Further, they have been identified as Lalam Lupheng alias Neikholom (35) wife of Jankaf Singson of Moreh ward number 2 at present staying at N Satam Village and Hoinu Luphong alias Kimneu (39) of Moreh ward number 8.
