IMPHAL, May 13: The JAC formed with regard to the death of Karam Bishorjit who the JAC says died of a case of medical negligence took out a meira rally and tried to storm the bungalow of the state Chief Minister today late in the evening.

The rally was being taken out demanding befitting punishment for the doctors and nurses of the Jawaharlal Nehru of Institute of Medical science Porompat involved in the operation of the deceased Bishorjit.  However, a large number of Imphal East Police personnel prevented the angry JAC members from proceeding toward the Chief Minister’s bungalow and stopped them in front of the Churachand Higher Secondary School before they could reach Sanjenthong area and proceed to the Chief Minister`s bungalow.

It may be mentioned that the JAC had earlier annnounced to launch strong agitations in case the government fail to take necessary action by 4pm of May 13.

IMPHAL, May 13: Addressing a press conference at Tangkhul Avenue, the Village authority of the silent village called a press conference at the Thangkhul Avenue stating that its villagers will resettle back in the area within a short period of time. David Shimray, Member of the Silent Village Authority said that following the arson incident on May 3, the villagers had met with the Chief Minister on the very next day asking for one post of para military forces in the area for controlling such incidents. “But till today, the state government is yet to open any post in the area,” he said. 

David Shimray further added that the state Government, NGOs and some civil society organization of the state had stepped in to provide lots of relief material to the victims of the arson incident and they are thankful to all of them but lamented that the state government is yet to take up anything concrete to start the process of resettlement of the victims whose entire properties were burnt down.He also demanded the state government to give proper compensation to the victims who houses, vehicles and other household items and property were burnt down.

IMPHAL, May 13: A man succumbed to injuries sustained during a truck accident  said a delayed report received by the police, informed a source.

The dead has been identified as Oinam Subol Singh (50) son of (L) Oinam Lukhoi Singh of Kakching Irengban. The mishap happened along the Imphal Jiribam highway in Kaimai and Shanti Khunou.

A case has been registered at the Nungba Police Station. The dead body was today handed over to the family members after post mortem was conducted at the RIMS morgue.
