IMPHAL, August 13: The Sana Konung Semgat Lup today said in a press release announcing the meeting resolution on the issue of taking over Sana Konung of Manipur government. The said meeting was held on August 10, 2013 at 11 am till 4 pm.

The resolutions as per the release says the government should renovate Sana Konung without taking over it; the letter of July 26, 2013 sent by Art & Culture was rejected and reply in this regard will be sent soon; renovation of Sana Konung will be taken in consultation with experts; Renovation of Sana Konung should not allowed under Monument Act and the king should not be gave Sana Konung in any condition; the right to renovate Sana Konung has entrusted to Sana Konung Semgat Lup and that the people of Manipur will unitedly resist the government stance on Sana Konung.

IMPHAL, August 13: A discussion on “Bio-diversity conservation: Plant more trees” as part of the National environment awareness campaign was held today Uripok  Tondonsana Hugh School. The discussion program was attended by students of the school, teachers and staff along with parents and local guardians. Prior to the discussion program, floral tributes were paid to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit Singh and General Thangal on account of Patriots’ Day. Subject experts spoke on the topic of bio-diversity conservation. Later, several saplings were planted in the school campus.

NEW DELHI, August 13 (MIC): Manipur government observed the Patriots` Day celebration at the Manipur Tikendrajit House, Bir Tikendrajit Marg, Chanakyapuri here this morning.

Three photographs of Paona Brajabasi, Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General were decorated at the base of the statue of Bir Tikendrajit where a large number of Manipuris from the National Capital Region paid their homage to the great patriots of Manipur who fought against the mighty Britishers and sacrificed their lives for the cause of their motherland during Anglo-Manipuri War in 1891.

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering graced the celebration as chief guest.

The Lok Sabha Member from Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Dr Thokchom Meinya led the VVIPs and public while paying floral tributes to the great patriots.

Two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed souls.

Lok Sabha member from Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Thangso Baite,  Manipur Legislative Assembly members namely Md Fajur Rahim from Wabagai Constituency and  Ginsuanhau from Singhat constituency, former Ministers Moirangthem Hemanta and Prof Gangumei Kamei were among those dignitaries who paid floral tributes to the martyrs.

IMPHAL, August 13: The Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal district has appealed the general public of Thoubal distinct to participate the Independence Day, 2013 to be celebrated on August 15 at Mini Secretariat Complex, DCs Office, Thoubal.  

“In order to enable to celebrate the ensuing Independence Day Celebration, 2013 in a befitting and grand successful manner, a sincere Appeal is hereby made on behalf of the Thoubal District Administration to all the Public Leaders, Social Workers, representatives of all NGOs working in the District and more particularly to the general public of Thoubal District to come forward and participate at such an important National function to show our gratitude and homage to those freedom fighters, who had sacrificed their lives for their motherland for attaining Independence from the British Empire,” the Thoubal DC said in a press statement.

 The Day will be celebrated in a befitting manner with all the co-operation and assistance from the District Level Officers (DLOs), elected representatives of all Local Bodies such as the Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Thoubal and Kakching Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and other well wishers of the Thoubal District, it added.

IMPHAL, August 13: The Sahitya Thoupang Lup today said in a press release that the literary society will organise the hundredth birth anniversary of Shitaljit in association with the Shitaljit Memorial Service.

The birth anniversary celebration will be a yearlong program. The inaugural function will be held on August 18 at JN Dance Academy Hall presided over by Longjam Joychandra, former director of JN Dance Academy and Prof HNK Sharma, vice chancellor MU as chief guest.

IMPHAL, August 13: The Bharatiya Janata Morcha today announced in a press release that the state level open debating competition has been declared.

Phamdom Dhanabir Singh, Development Youth Club, Kumbi got first position while Ambika Heitangkhongjam of Nirmalabas high school and Christ Angel Laishram of RK Sanatonbi Devi Vidyalaya as second and third position respectively.
