IMPHAL, April 4: Fumed at the government`™s decision to transfer headmaster of Lamding Model High School, the lone model school in Thoubal district and subsequently posting an in-charge who does not qualify Recruitment Rules (RR) instead of a regular headmaster, students of the school have boycotted classes in the school from today.
The enraged students also locked gate of the school out of furious.
Placards which read such as “™we do not endorse in-charge as headmaster`™`™, `Revoke transfer order of the headmaster` etc were held by the student protesters.
Speaking to media persons, A Babita, one of the students asserted that Lamding Model High School which has around 400 students is counted one of the good government schools with its impeccable track record.
She lamented that the transfer of the headmaster from the school came at a time when academic atmosphere in the school needs to be maintained.
The newly posted in-charge to the school is not eligible to take charge as the headmaster as he does not qualify Recruitment Rules, the student pointed out.
Demanding the government to send a regular headmaster to the school at the earliest so as to maintain academic atmosphere, she said that the students were compelled to agitate as their call has been sidelined by the authorities concerned.
Meanwhile, teachers of Lamding Model High School have strongly condemned the transfer of the headmaster from the school that has come as a shocker to its students.
In a press release, they observed that the transfer of the headmaster from the school and subsequently replacing by an Assistant Graduate Teacher is not a good move of the government.
Expressing that the government`™s move has demoralized values and integrity of teachers, it said that the government`™s transfer policy is questionable.
Parent`™s Association of SMDC, Lamding Model High School while also condemning the transfer of the headmaster has urged the government to bring an amicable solution to the impasse at the earliest.
