Dy CM reviews DBT status span Source span classbodyboldThe Sangai Express DIPR spanp p alignjustifyspan classbodyboldImphal, May 06 2017span Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh today reviewed the current status of Direct Benefit Transfer DBT and Financial Inclusion relating to various welfare schemes which are being implemented in the State A meeting which was held at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat South Block and chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister discussed at length the technicalities of implementation of DBT for various schemes implemented by the departments Heads of Departments including Rural Development, Social Welfare, Tribal Affairs Hills and School Education deliberated on issues pertaining to the centpercent implementation of DBT and seeding of Aadhar and mobile number with beneficiaries’ bank accounts in the State While acknowledging the difficulties faced by various departments in implementing schemes through DBT, mostly in the remote areas where banking facilities have not been provided, Joykumar Singh instructed bank officials to expedite opening of bank branches wherever necessary He maintained that all major issues like infrastructure, connectivity and communication necessary for opening bank branches would be addressed if all the stake holders cooperate with each other He appealed to all the stake holders to cooperate with the Government to attain the target as it is one of the targets set by the Government Regarding the opening of bank branches in the unbanked blocks in the State, Commissioner Finance VK Dewangan said, out of the 32 unbanked blocks in the State, initiatives have been started for opening bank branches in 21 blocks Of these, banks will be made operational in four blocks namely T Vaichong, Phungyar, Nungba and Sangaikot from first June this year and remaining blocks will also be covered very soon, he added He also instructed the officials to complete Aadhar and mobile number seeding with beneficiaries’ bank accounts as early as possible The meeting also discussed issues about financial inclusionopening of bank accounts in the State The total Saving Accounts opened in the State as on 31 032017 are 26, 85,430 of which Aadhar seeded accounts are 10, 38,895 only Out of the total 1, 23,599 beneficiaries under different schemes in Social Welfare Department, only 2,370 beneficiaries are yet to open register their bank accounts EpnNews14 pspan classnewsheader Auto Driver wins best documentary award at Women’s Voices Now Film Festival
