Chingai MLA, Khasim Vashum, called on the people, particularly the tribal to foster the importance of Ningol Chakouba festival by celebrating it widely in the hill districts.
The MLA stated this on the side lines of Ningol Chakouba festival celebrated on Saturday at his official quarter at Lamphelpat.
As celebrated across the state, the Khasim Vashum also celebrated Ningol Chakouba by inviting Tangkhul women from his constituency who are married to other communities over a feast at his official quarter.
Tangkul women from the constituency married to different communities in other part of the state turned up in big number for the Chakouba celebration.
Presentation of gifts to the women, interaction and a grand feast marked the celebration which was attended by nearly fifty married women and their children.
Speaking to media persons, the MLA said the Chakouba festival was organised to show our sisters and mothers that they are blessed for their role of fostering peace and unity of all communities in the state.
The MLA said he is looking forward to organising similar Chakouba festival every year and at a larger scale.
He further appealed to the people, particularly the tribal to also foster the importance of the festival by widely organizing it in hill districts.
