IMPHAL, May 12 (NNN): The Liangmai Katimai Ruangdi-Manipur and Nagaland (LNKR-MN) or Liangmai Students Union has urged the authority concerned to speed up the double-laning work of I.T Road and complete it before the rainy season sets in. The IT Road double-laning work is undergoing. The LNKR also said the contractors indulging in the IT Road construction work should maintain quality.

According to the Liangmai students` body, if the work is not completed before the rainy season arrives, both the commuters and those labourers will experience immense hardship. The LNKR then said the double-laning work between Tamei and Tamenglong had already halted after reaching Lamlaba. The students` body urged the concerned authority to resume the wotk and complete the task on time.

The LNKR then rues that due to the non-functioning of BSNL telephone line in Tamei subdivision (the only telephone line in the subdivision), the denizens are facing immense hardship.

IMPHAL, May 13: The state unit of the Bharatiya Jananta party (BJP) has demanded  for the resignation of the Prime Minister of the country in light of the various scams in the country.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state head office at Nityaypat Chuthek today, Former MP Th Chaoba  and President of BJP Manipur said that the country under the leadership of PM Manmohan Singh is full of scams.

From the time that India got Independence, there has not been a single report of scam in the railways but now even the railways have not been spared, he said. Calling Dr Manmohan Singh as the weakest Prime Minister of the country, Th Chaoba said the Government led by the PM has done nothing for the people of the country but only got involved in one scam after another.

IMPHAL, May 12: The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) Manipur Branch has observed international nurses day celebration at its office at Uripok Khumanthem Leikai here today.

As part of the occasion, M Memcha Devi, DPHNO/Program Chairperson Public Health narrated briefly on the life history of Florence Nightingale. Gifts were also presented to the retired outstanding Nursing personnel of Manipur. The reception of Dr N Surbala Devi, first PhD holder among the nursing personnel in the state was also held.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Karam Lokendro Singh, Joint Director Directorate of Health Services exhorted all the nurses to follow the footsteps of Florence Nightingale.

L Ibohal Singh, President TNAI Manipur Branch; Dr S Manikanta Singh, Joint Director Directorate of Health Services; and Vungzanem Valte, Joint Director Nursing Cum Registrar MNC were the other dignitaries present at the observance.

IMPHAL, May 12: The All Manipur Nupi Marup, National Federation of Indian Movement, JAC against murder attempt on Mala Lisam, Solidarity for Sustainable Development and Organization for Development today called a joint press conference at the Manipur Press Club condemning that even though the police have arrested the accused in the alleged firing at Mala Lisam, the government has failed to take any action against the accused in a transparent manner.

Speaking at the conference, spokesperson S Pramoleima said the bodies will launch agitations in case the government failed to announce any punitive actions against the accused by May 14.
