IMPHAL, Jan 3: In order to generate greater awareness on upkeep and maintenance of their vehicles, an awareness workshop for local taxi drivers was conducted by 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) at Yaingangpokpi in Ukhrul district today, informed a press release of PRO IGAR (S).
The lecture was conducted with an aim to educate the Tata Magic drivers on the concept of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of their vehicles. A total of 25 drivers from neighboring villages attended the workshop wherein they were educated about the basic vehicle maintenance, use of clear fuel and measures to reduce pollution.
The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks given by the Company Commander of Yaingangpokpi post, with a message to comply with the road safety rules, it added.

IMPHAL, Jan 3: Assam Rifles at Churachandpur part of Red Shield Division, presented solar lights, computer set along with accessories to the children residing at Happy Home, Churachandpur, conveyed PIB Defence Wing in a press release.
The aim of the distribution of the articles was to provide the children suffering from HIV disease with a better future. Locals and social organisations appreciated the efforts, it added.

IMPHAL, Dec 28: 26 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a free medical check-up and medical awareness camp for the villagers of Yairipok, Thoubal district yesterday, informed PRO IGAR (S) in a press release. A lecture on health issues and general medical awareness was given by the Regimental Medical Officer of 26 Assam Rifles. Free medical check-up and medicine were distributed to the villagers including women and children, it said.

IMPHAL, Sep 16: A combined team of Lamlai police station and 17 Assam Rifles, arrested an individual along with 400 grams of brown sugar from an Ukhrul to Imphal bus at Murei Lamkhai at around 5.30 pm today.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohhamad Khansha s/ o Mohhamad Latif of Thoubal.
The seized drugs is estimated to be worth around Rs 3 to 4 lakh.
The arrested individual along with the seized item were later handed over to Lamlai police station.
