IMPHAL, Feb 23: Continuing with its philantrophic works and reaching out to general public, 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(S) assisted the villagers in leveling and preparing a football ground at Thayong Vill, Andro.
The ground was dedicated to the people during the opening ceremony of the third Khurpui Festival. The effort was a befitting example of civil-military co-operation and the football field was prepared in a record time of seven days. 28 Assam Rifles provided a jcb and manpower for the same. The unit also assisted the locals with material support in smooth conduct of the festival.
The villagers were elated and thanked the unit for fullfilling their long over due aspirations. such efforts will go a long way in building a lasting relationship and ushering era of lasting peace.

IMPHAL Feb 23: Following strictures meted out by the police, the nearly 200 teachers currently undergoing protest at the Johnston Higher Secondary has been made to shift their protest site to Churachand Higher Secondary School from today onwards, a press released by COTA convenor stated.
Further, All Manipur Hill Teachers Association in a statement confirmed that the teachers of the association will not submit the enumeration papers unless the demands of the teachers are met. All the hill teachers also follow the fast to death agitation without any neglect, the release stated.

IMPHAL, Feb 23: The written test of the for recruitment of contract basis teachers in respective subjects in the National Sports Academy, KLSC, will be conducted on March 14 from 10 am to 1 pm at the NSA, Khuman Lampak, Imphal, said a notice of the National Sports Academy Management Society, Khuman Lampak.
It said candidates are required to be seated at their allotted seats by 9:45 am. Candidates may collect Admit card for the written test from the office of the Administrative officer, NSA Khuman Lampak.

IMPHAL, Feb 23: The person who was arrested by security forces from Sawombung gate is a deserter and he is not related to the UNLF, stated senior publicity officer of the proscribed UNLF Ksh Yoiheiba in a press statement.
The statement further stated that the arrested person Khomdram Tamnganba, alias Sushil, son of Itomcha of Tensubam Leirak Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai is a deserter who failed to report to the unit after taking leave on medical ground. He has also reported joined a faction of KCP very recently.
The other arrested person Phanjoubam Winnerjit, son of Shyam of Bheigyabati Leikai is also not related to the outfit, the statement added.

Ranchi: Manipur opens its medal account on 34th National Games with 7 Medals including 2 Gold Medals on the first day. It can be remembered that Manipur was the champion of the last National Games and it is speculated from various circles that Manipur contingent will fight its way to defend the Champion title this year as well.

Opening Ceremony: As reported by Times of India, the opening ceremony of the 34th National Games was inaugurated by M O H Farook, Governor of Jharkhand at its capital Ranchi. “It is a red letter day in history of Jharkhand,” said Farook.

The teams participated in a march past, led by the Services contingent. The contingent of Manipur, the last Games’s champions, was the second in the march past.

A total of 28 states and five union territories took part in the march past.
